  Becoming new again

  Made a stay here because it fit in my per deim and had never stayed at a Marriot Delta before. They are currently renovating but the hotel is great. Everything feels new and the rooms are great. Once the new bar and restaurants open this will be my go to hotel for this area!

  Full of potential, not ready yet

  This review is based on the current condition of the Northeast Columbia Hotel at the end of February 2020. The condition of the hotel, once completed with the transition to a Delta Marriott property would likely be better. The hotel is located near quite a few restaurants at a high traffic intersection. Not much to walk to. The hotel is undergoing significant renovation, so the price per night will likely reflect that. The entryway has lots of potential and staff were welcoming. Breakfast was in a temporary location with limited options. The features in the Marriott app, such as chat and mobile keys did not seem to work. But the worst part was the smell. Im not sure if was part of the renovation but my room and some areas of the hotel had a bad, almost BO-like smell to it. There was also a considerable amount of building materials, such as carpet pieces, in the room and stairways. It made me wonder how much my room had been previously cleaned prior to coming in. With all that being said, I would stay here again in the next few months to see what changes have been made and to revisit my review.

  Really nice hotel.

  Everything about Columbia Northeast Hotel is 5-star. Staff. Cleanliness. Location. Amenities. I will return to this hotel every time I visit the area. Such a great location; I am excited about my next trip. Oh... and the bed was really really comfortable.

  Not yet ready for prime time

  I knew in booking that they were in the middle of renovations, but I did not expect to find--after booking through the Marriott web page based on them already being a Marriott property--that for some reason, 'they're not quite yet.' Tried the included (for Titanium Elite members) breakfast the first day. Sad list of limited choices, so I asked about getting points instead for my second day. 'No they can't do that.' Points instead of included breakfast is a standard Marriott perk. Too close to a noisy highway. Frequent traffic, sirens and train noise. Can't imagine why hotels have increasingly gone to room thermostats that automatically switch back and forth from heating to cooling. I froze both nights. This will probably end up being a nice Delta by Marriott property. For now, the bad things were bad enough for me to take away from the few good things.

  Not great

  We stayed at this hotel for a night on the way to myrtle beach. The first room they put us in was not clean. The toilet was full of poop and pee. So when where assigned to another room. This room was nice. The hotel is currently under remodel (2020). Now let me say we have stayed at other Delta owned property and loved them. But this hotel is not up to their standards. The remodel construction is sloppy. There is paint all over the flooring, the ice makers do not work. This just wasnt a great experience for us.
