  Very good

  Stayed here for 1 night - city trip and Christmas market. The apartment is big, clean and comfortable. Beds are good and long enough for us tall Dutch people. Quiet area with free on-street parking. The big shopping mall Limbecker Platz is just 5 min walk away and the city center 10 min. Breakfast was in the hotel next to the suites. The breakfast room wasn't busy when we were there. Nice breakfast. Would definitely stay again in the Essen City Suites.

  Flying Visit

  One night only but very spacious, clean, tidy - well positioned close to the U-Bahn and not a huge walk from the Hauptbahnhof. Nice area of the city and the Holiday Inn next door provides an obvious food & drink option but there are some other local attractions close by. This would be an ideal spot for a business traveller who is in town Mon to Fri or for a few days at a time.

  Spacious rooms

  On the top floor of the Holiday Inn Express which provides check-in, admin, and breakfast. Reasonable pricing given the large room which had two double beds plus sofa, table and desk. Small kitchen with fridge, range, and sink. Clean functional bathroom with shower only. Some problems with shower door and light bulbs. Unfortunately limited maintenance during the weekend but overall this did not dampen the experience. Nice touch with a terrace to at least some skyline view. Central location in walking distance to the station and city center. Street parking is an option but not unlimted. Otherwise parking garage available for EUR 16/day. Breakfast in the hotel was with a good enough selection to please most people.

  Not bad but aging rooms and varying staff

  Excellent price (well for a winter close-to-weekend break) for a spacious suite. Not a great start though: we booked a twin room and TWICE were given keys for double room, though reception seemed to understand our English well. Only 3rd time walking back and forth from reception (of HEX hotel nextdoor) to the suite floor the room indeed was a twin. Good cleaning and plenty of space, also tea/coffee in room, hair dryer, ironboard. Bathroom good but some smell of sewer at times. B'fast is of HEX which means continental only (no warm dishes); use the shortcut route to restaurant to avoid having to walk out and in again. Nice central location close to bus, metro, shops.

  Good suites near the centre of the city

  Hotel: The hotel entrance is the holiday inn express next to the suites. you pick up your keys and then go outside, around the corner you then go inside with your key and up. It feels like heading to your own appartement. Price: Price is good to be honest for the space you get and the included breakfast with fast wifi so nothing to complain about. Room: The room is huge with a separate bedroom area. Also an own desk for working and a couch for relaxing. the kitchen is small but has everything you need, bathroom: The bathroom is also good with a strong shower and it smells and looks clean. Services: Wifi is pretty good and free breakfast at the holiday inn express is included. Food: You get free instant coffee and tea if you want. next to this the included breakfast in holiday inn express is basic but good. neighborhood: opposite to the ikea, it's at the outskirt of the centre of town and becomes a bit deserted after 21:00. Overall: Would definitely stay here again and would recommend this place for business and families. The only problem is that it's hard to get by since they are fully booked quite often.
