    CHRISTMAS IN BARNA

We had a fabulous family Christmas in the beautiful "Aigean cottage". A 5 star experience. The attention to detail is superb, spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. It is fully equipped as a family home e.g. range-style cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine & dryer, Smart TV, wifi, 4 bedrooms (3 en-suite bathrooms). The cottage is modern, spacious and warm - it has underfloor heating & radiators. There was a Christmas tree and decorations and when we lit the log fire it created a lovely festive atmosphere. The beds are very comfortable with quality bed linen and towels. The main bedroom has a super king size bed with a free standing bath and a walk in rain fall shower. The location is perfect too. A stroll to Barna village, a short drive to the beach at Silver Strand. Dan is a super host who made sure we had a special family Christmas.

    Great staycation

Just spent a week in these lovely cottages. The house was spotless and very comfortable and little touches like loccitane toiletries give it a little bit of Luxury. The site is safe for children and the playground is an added bonus. The location is great.quick drive to Salthill,Galway town or many beaches and a great SuperValu and pub/ restaurant are within easy walking distance. Dan and Sarah are lovely hosts, friendly and full of local knowledge and suggestions. This was a fantastic location for a staycation.

Perfect spot for Family & Friends Aug 2020

Our family of 4 including two young kids had a wonderful Midweek break at the Galway Coast Cottages in Barna in August 2020. We are from Dublin and booked in May when it was clear there would be no overseas sun holiday this year. We were delighted with how it turned out. Three other families of our friends joined in and owner/host Dan was equally helpful and welcoming to us all. We stayed in no.s 6,8,9 and 10, all 3 bed cottages. Ours had a sea view from the upstairs living room and we were impressed by the comfort and standard of bedding, toiletries, kitchen equipment. Lovey shower in the en-suite as well as an electric shower and separate bath in the other bathroom, perfect for post-beach kids. We fit in a trip to a small local cove, about three turns past Tra Mór, as well as a longer drive up to Dogs bay beside Roundstone. That beach is spectacular and the sheltered water is very smooth and safe as well as that bit warmer, I loved it. The drive was about 90 mins but full on gorgeous Connemara and wild Atlantic way views, so for us it was worth it. We also did a morning walk in Barna woods and had a lovely dinner in The Pins in The Twelve in Barna, which is a short walk away. Barna village is easy to access and has a great small supermarket as well as cafes restaurants and takeaways. We were very lucky with sunny warm weather so our kids got great use out of the central playground and paved area around it (scooter races). There are several outdoor picnic tables so we had a lunch and several dinners outside. During one I had to pop back inside and deal with work emails (than you, 2020) and I noticed how I couldnt hear the chatter outside, so if other cottages are eating out its not a noise issue for those in others. Bring insect repellant for the evening, we had a couple of ankle nips. On one evening two of my friends were sitting having a post dinner drink on one of the benches on the front lawn after the sun had dipped and Dan appeared with a blanket and two cushions to make them more comfortable. This instinct to enhance a little holiday moment was so lovely and it really struck us. Overall this is a beautifully situated spot from which to explore a magical part of Ireland; owned and managed by a very dedicated couple. I wish them all the success they deserve and I hope to be back.

    Family celebration

We spent a wonderful four days in barna staying in "the gathering" cottages. Perfect for a large family group. We were able to hold a lovely celebratory dinner in the large open plan kitchen area. Plenty of room to seat everyone, the high ceilings give a lovely feeling of space and light, a perfect party room. These cottages are finished to a high standard, really comfortable and well maintained. A big thank you to Dan and his team we left Barna with precious memories of a wonderful family holiday

Beautiful dog friendly accommodation in Bearna

Our dog friendly 3 bed cottage was just gorgeous. Decor so bright and cheerful. Everything you need for a short or long stay. Big funky fridge, full oven, towels, gorgeous L'Occitane toiletries, toaster kettle, microwave etc. View of sea from upstairs sitting room so nice. Dan was absolutely fantastic as a host, immediate responses to our texts. We didn't realise the early check out of 10.30am so were late leaving however Dan understood, very much appreciated. One comment purely from a dog owners perspective, a way to enclose the lovely garden as we couldn't allow dogs out unaccompanied. Somebody had to sit with them at all times in case they wandered away. Location a lovely short walk into Bearna very close to the beach. We will definitely be back to Dan and Sarah's cottages. Highly recommend.

Couldn't recommend enough - incredible cottages

Myself and 4 college friends stayed in the Galway Coast Cottages for 2 nights on a recent trip to Galway. We absolutely loved our stay in the cottage. The cottage was spotless clean and so well equipped. It was the most perfect location being less than 10 minutes away from Salthill and about 35 minutes from Rossaveel ferry for the Aran Islands. Each room had an en-suite and had towels available beautiful L'Occtaine products available. The cottage was had a beautiful outside area to enjoy the sunshine and felt very private from the other cottages. Daniel was so helpful and friendly giving us great local recommendation and helping to send back something we forgot in the cottage. I cannot recommend this place enough and we will most definitely be back

An absolute gem of a spot

Just got home from a 5 night stay in a Galway Coast Cottage with our 2 kids. When booking Dan could not have been more helpful with suggestions of places to go and activities to entertain the family. On arrival we were met with a genuine warmth that just added to the beautiful location. Our cottage was spotless and well decorated throughout. My kids loved every minute of their stay. Cottages are well furnished and have all you would possibly need for a home away from home. I particularly liked that there is no car access to the door of the cottages ( car park is less than 30 foot from your door) as this allowed the kids to enjoy the playground and surroundings in safety. Ideal location for day trips. 5 minute walk from Barna Village, 5 minute drive to Silver Strand beach snd Salthill. Places like this and people like Dan are the reason you should invest your money on a staycation. The Bogan Family
