BEST HOTEL EVER - long review = COVERS EVERYTHING!

Please make sure you read my entire review. I'm an IHG platinum member, so obviously I travel a lot. I've been in hundreds of hotels over the years, and this was the best hotel I've ever been in. The experience was incredible. We've been home 2 days, and we're already talking about going back. This a legit review, and I'm leaving NOTHING out! It all started when my family booked an amazing 10 bedroom beach house in Ocean Isle NC for 8/1/20-8/8/20. This place was laid out, elevators, huge pool, you name it. It looked like something straight out of MTV Cribs, and we were really looking forward to it. All of this in Ocean Isle, (which I'd never been to) which is apparently an awesome island with one bridge to get you in/out. We booked it from one Saturday to the next Saturday, and the family all decided to drive, but I don't like driving that far, so my wife and I decided to fly. We booked our airfare from Friday 7/31/20 to Sunday 8/9/20, using one IHG Visa anniversary night for the first night, headed to the beach house for the next 7 nights, then using another anniversary night before flying home on 8/9/20. We decided to do this because Spirit Airlines wanted WAY more to fly Saturday through Saturday, and we actually saved like $400 by flying in one day early and leaving one day later. Being that the 2 hotel nights were on Visa, it was a no-brainer. So we roll in on 7/31/20, and wouldn't you know it, we found out there was a hurricane (Isiah) right behind us. We didn't think too much of it, but then we found out the Ocean Isle had evacuated the island! Here we were, away from from, family en-route with no where to go, with a lot of money invested. The people we rented the beach house from couldnt tell us much, because they were at the mercy of Ocean Isle government. We found ourselves just hoping we'd get to the beach house, and were losing hope quickly. On Saturday, the whole family was in SC, and they all met me at this hotel. I spoke with JOY the Manager, explained the situation, and she quickly assured me that my whole family would have lodging that night, and if needed, the entire week. Later that night, we got word that hurricane Isiah was coming on Monday night! As a family, we were hoping to be in the beach house by Tuesday morning, but we weren't really sure that'd happen. We talked about how impressive this hotel was, and how even if we spent the whole week there, it'd be nice. Right on the water @ Myrtle Beach Yacht Club (a beautiful marina only 30 feet or so away!), hundreds of luxurious boats right there, an in-ground pool, a 5-star restaurant right next door, you name it! Monday 8/3/20 came, and so did hurricane Isiah. The winds and rains were incredible! A little scary to be honest, but the hotel staff were total professionals leading up to the hurricane coming, and throughout the whole night. In fact, JOY over-staffed the hotel that night, and even gave off-duty employees rooms for their families to make sure they weren't impacted by the weather. She had an army of hotel staff on-hand, and they were all ready/willing to spring into action at any second to help the people staying there. That speaks volumes of Joy's leadership skills, and the dedication of the staff. That speaks volumes to me as well!! Tuesday we got word that Ocean Isle was closed until Saturday - we're busted, no beach house. You know what though, no problem, we're having a great time at the hotel, staff is incredibly friendly, and we're having a blast. This hotel is incredibly clean. Like seriously, they were cleaning the ENTIRE time we were there, it was NUTS! i've never seen people clean like this. The rooms were great, just as you'd expect at a Holiday Inn, but you would never expect an "Express" to be this nice (pool, marina, etc). I'm still mind-blown! The staff was incredibly polite, as I mentioned, but I have to touch on that again. There were so many on hand, I actually feel bad for not remembering all their names. I know Joy was awesome, Terra at the front desk, and late-night Phil at the front desk. Phil was an impressive young man. 19 years old, already has a business or two built, working hard at life, and even has an associates degree. Wednesday's here, now were hitting the beach and hitting some local touristy places. Everything is nearby. Downtown Myrtle (boardwalk area) is only like 20 minutes out. Public beach access is like 10 minutes down the road. We went to the beach Wednesday and Thursday, and Thursday I totaled the rental car. That's a nightmare right? Nope, I was having too much of a good time to care. Enterprise sent me a new car, I laughed about it with hotel staff, and broke my iphone the next night. Another nightmare right? Nope. I didn't need that phone anyway, it was just distracting me from all the great stuff going on around me. There was just too much beautiful stuff around that hotel that I needed to focus on - I'm actually happy that phone broke. Unfortunately I cant show you pictures though, because I havent got a new phone yet! By the end of the week, I even saw staff evict a problematic customer and call the police on another customer, a guy who victimized a woman. That showed me that hotel staff took the safety of their customers very seriously. And what I failed to tell you is that I'm a Police Officer back home, so security is big to me. Based upon my first-hand experience, I'd have no problem taking my family to this place. I saw nothing to be concerned with. Great area, safe area, great staff, incredibly affordable, clean, and absolutely beautiful surroundings, and a pool like bath water! If you made it this far, tell Joy, Terra and Phil I said hello while you're there, and order the grouper at the restaurant next door. You might even see me there, because I plan on going back! I"LL BE CALLING IHG TO TELL THEM THIS TOMORROW! A+ PROPERTY AND STAFF!!

An easy trip to Myrtle Beach

Right on Rt 17, but also right on a marina off the Intracoastal Waterway: sailboats, motor boats and a small stone lighthouse made for a picturesque view. Very comfortable bed, Grab 'N Go breakfast (during pandemic), friendly staff.

    Two day stay

Stayed at this property while in town looking at Condos! The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast offering was a cut above all the other hotels my wife and I stayed at along the way. Oatmeal, yogurt, a hot sandwich, juice, fruit cup, Blueberry muffins! All the staff members were helpful and friendly!

Very Clean and Close to Calabash

We got this place off of Priceline for $59/night and spent two nights. The location is excellent (close to NMB and Calabash) and the property is adjacent to a beautiful marina. The room was immaculate. Of course, due to Covid, there was no housekeeping service, but trash pickup and clean towels were easy to get. Their version of free breakfast was the best we have experienced at hotels during Covid, having offered hot biscuit sandwiches, fresh fruit, and yogurt. The only reason I am not giving this place a 5 is that we had a 38 lb dog (they indicated they were dog friendly) and charged us $25 per night even though they didn't enter the room for housekeeping at any time we were there. I can certainly see ONE $25 fee but not two because they only had to clean the room ONCE. Anyway, it was a nice, affordable place and we would stay there again but probably without our dog.
