  Excellent Hotel in Rochester

  Highly recommend this location. Clean, rooms are terrific, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The kitchen staff went out of their way to help with some breakfast for my son with food allergies!! Very thankful!

  Okay hotel

  Smelly and not so clean rooms. Front desk staff is nice but you have to go down to get toiletries that are not already in your room. No shower caps. Apparently the night crew doesn't have access to things that the day crew does (i.e. mending kits, shower caps, etc.)

  Worst stay ever!

  My sister was bit by a bug in the bed and had an allergic reaction. I caught the bug and gave it to the service desk and they did nothing because they didnt find another bug in the room after their inspection They did not take any money off my room or anything. The general manager seemed to not care at all and basically told me oh well. I will never stay at this hotel ever again

  A bit disappointing this time

  OK, I know the hotel cant help the influence on service caused by the pandemic: basically no breakfast or dinner, since its all buffet-style normally. However, it does diminish the Homewood Suites value proposition and this recently renovated property surprisingly felt a bit downmarket this time too. Examples: lack of HH gold-level recognition at check-in, stained hallway carpet, guests smoking pot inside, and a mid-afternoon fire alarm (perhaps related to the pot). Plus, the gym wasnt throughly cleaned between Friday night and Saturday night, as evidenced by an untouched Dasani wrapper near the treadmills. At least the gym was open for use. All in all, it just felt a bit more like an Extended Stay America this time and that pains me. The room was fine fortunately and I hope everything will be back to normal next time.

  Nice room, blah otherwise

  I stayed here one night before picking up my son from RIT for the semester end. The room itself was great - very nice living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. Comfortable with modern decor and furnishings although the air conditioner was a bit noisier than I expected. So it was a good choice for plenty of space. Service was fine but not particularly friendly or welcoming compared to other hotels Ive stayed at. The morning breakfast was lousy. I understand this is just a to go breakfast with the pandemic but what I thought was an egg and sausage muffin was just a piece of (I think) turkey sausage and cheese (no egg) on an English muffin and tasted terrible. Packaged pastry was awful and fruit cup was...well, a tiny fruit cup. I stayed at another Homewood Suites previously and had a wonderful box breakfast with high quality packaged foods and fresh fruit so this was disappointing. They really should provide a better breakfast. Area around the hotel felt kind of like in the middle of a somewhat depressing suburban area with what looked like a half shuttered mall nearby - although the Cracker Barrel parking lot nearby was full. Cant do anything about the location and it was a convenient place to stay, but the service and breakfast could have been better.
