  We had a great time we were able to play in the pool take a bike ride along the lake the view was fantastic the kids dug for shells and rocks and even found a skull of a sm rodent they did not want to leave we will differentially go back and try a stay at a cabin.

  Beware - Honey Creek Does Not Honor Reservations

  Honey Creek is switching to a seasonal schedule as of today, 10 days before my family checked in on days that are not part of that seasonal schedule. They cancelled my reservation with a deposit paid. They are not helping me with my only planned vacation of the year. They are booked for the days they are open. I talked with the front desk manager and the general manager. It was clear they had no plans to deal with affected guests. They said sorry. That doesn't help me. We cannot change the dates of our time off. We will try to find another option, but it will be last minute and hurried with two young children in the times of COVID-19. Also, the weather was supposed to be perfect for a fall get away. I do not recommend planning to stay at this resort, as they may alter your vacation with little or no notice. The resort had no plan for guests affected by this decision. They asked the state for permission three months ago, but are not giving guests with immediate reservations any options. I would understand if they canceled two months out, giving guests the time to find something else. This is just a crappy situation for us.

  Wanted it to be great

  Honey Creek has so much potential. The grounds and building and setting are top notch. We were only staying one night, and we knew that because it was not in season we wouldnt be able to use kayaks. Had planned on using water park area. Unfortunately. The larger of the two water slides was broken. Word from front desk was that came from the State. Evidently, Covid can grow in large water slide with chlorinated water running thru it, but not the small slide. Not the resorts fault, but someone had a bloody nose in the pool, so that was closed until the bacteria level came down. We did get 10 minutes in the hot tub. We were able to do some hiking and biking using the bikes provided. If you want to go biking, I suggest you bring your own bike designed for non paved areas. The ones provided were in pretty bad shape. The golf course looked fantastic, but we arrived to late to play. Reviews of the course are top notch. We checked the menu for the restaurant, it looked really expensive for what the items were. $15-$18 for a burger. We tried. Waited 5 minutes for a hostess to seat us, (as the sign said). Then we left. There is a great restaurant in Centerville about 20 minutes away called George and Nicks steak and pizza. Fabulous Greek steak house. There was no soap or shampoo in the dispensers in the shower. The HVAC unit is designed to be eco friendly. Not user friendly. It was 40 degrees outside, but it took 20 minutes to get the heat to turn on. Yes, their are instructions. However, they were not use friendly. To top it off, housekeeping awoke us when they knocked on the door at 8:30 when there was an 11 am checkout. We really wanted this to be special, but probably wont be returning.

  Huge Disappointment....

  Our family rented a cabin this past weekend at Honey Creek Resort (Cabin #21) and I feel compelled to share our experience with others before they choose this as a destination. We have stayed at Honeycreek three other times, several years ago when they were newly opened and wow, I was shocked at how downhill things have gotten here. Upon check in, we arrived to the cabin and it was filthy. The counters had not been wiped off, there were cobwebs and dead bugs all over the floor and windows, the cabin had a bad smell in every room. The furniture was ripped and the side tables and lamps were in poor condition. The freezer was coated in a brown slime. In one of the back bedrooms, there was trash under the bed leftover from other guests. The bathrooms did not even have toilet paper on the rolls. I spent the entire first hour of our stay cleaning the cabin while trying to convince myself, 'Maybe they are just short staffed' and 'It must be tough to keep these large cabins clean' I received a text from the front desk asking how everything was, and I was honest. They said they were sending someone right over, and no one ever arrived. No one ever followed back up with us. I wasn't about to spend my weekend away cleaning and/or grumbling so we headed to the pool. Later that evening, we were waiting for our To-Go order from the restaurant and sat at a table in the corner of the lobby. I don't think they knew we could hear/see them, but there were 2 women working the front desk complaining and making fun of other guests texting in about issues with their cabins/rooms. I knew they had probably done the same with our concerns. The other staff we interacted with (lifeguards, restaurant staff) were wonderful. I would give them 5/5 stars. But everything else was unacceptable. As a family who travels often, this was no where near worth the value and the rooms are in very poor condition for guests when you consider the investment they are paying for their stay.

  Great Place To Stay

  If you are looking for fun, rest, relaxation Honey Creek is the place! So much to do and see. Fishing, indoor water park, onsite restaurant, golf, bike paths, hiking, direct tv. Something for everyone!
