  Never disappoints

  Although we havent actually stayed here we have been allowed to use the pool and snack bar area. You have the best of two worlds. Steps down to the sea and a great pool which is well kept. Georgio at the pool bar recognised us again and he and his colleagues are helpful and friendly. Food is good and reasonably priced. A great place for a relaxing day.

  Worst value for money

  We booked for a weekend but we were told that the price in the platform was wrong and the rate was almost double. An old building with very poor commodities,Air condition not working . We left after an hour as it was impossible to stay without air conditioning. There are much better hotels in the area.

  Simply Lovely

  Just returned from a 10 night stay in this hotel and had a wonderful time, the location is just on the outskirts of Fionikouda about a 20 minute walk either partly along the beach or on the road but both very hilly and hard work especially in hot weather. We had a sea view room ( highly recommended) and the views across the pool and beach to the village was stunning. The hotel is very clean and the breakfast although basic was plentiful, the pool area was clean and spotless and the pool its self was at perfect temperature for a refreshing dip, we ate at the restaurant a few times and The food was plentiful and lovely and priced fairly, the staff at the hotel are lovely and nothing is too much trouble and George who runs the hotel even ran us into Pyros to collect a scooter we had hired ( transport is essential if you want to get around and visit other places and beaches as there is only 1 taxi which serves Fionikouda and he was always on airport runs ). Fionikouda itself is a quaint little village with some nice restaurants and tavernas, no noisy music or Karaoke bars here ( phew ) The food is reasonably cheap although the drinks are a little overpriced but that is probably because the £ is so weak at the moment. If you go visit the beaches at Pyros and Methoni as well as Zanzibar beach on the way to Methoni, we will definitely be returning to Fionikouda and hopefully the Golden Sun again as we loved every minute of our stay! The only downside is the mosquitoes which took a liking to me but I suppose thats usual for most hot countries at this time of year!

  Excellent hotel

  Fantastic holiday in a lovely family run hotel. Views all round were spectacular. Double room has comfortable bed, hot shower with excellent flow and fly screens on patio doors. Daily room cleaning, regular fresh sheets and towels. Pool bar and restaurant provide good food and amazing views to dine by. Excellent pools, one deep and one shallow. Pool towels provided. Private beach with good snorkelling. Finikounda village is within walking distance or easy car journey. We were almost stranded by the Thomas Cook collapse. The family hotel offered us huge support in the event we couldn't get home. We thank them for that reassurance and will definitively be back!

  Best hotel in Foinikounta by a mile!!

  Weve been coming to the Golden Sun for a few years now, and it could not be a nicer surprise. Its an amazing setting, with the sea just over the side, by the pool, and it is refreshingly free from the usual tourist groups. The staff so, so lovely, and helpful. The food is great. The setting is just stunning. All round a wonderful, welcoming place.
