  A smart hotel in the Ardennes

  I went to Clervaux the other day ir order to visit the castle and the museum. Before doing so, I had lunch at Hotel International. There I had a very positive experience, the reason being the excellent food and service. The beef from Limousin tasted fantastic and the recommended open red wine was delicious. The restaurant was pretty well frequented, but that did not stop the service from being next to excellent. I would love to come back.

  Very Comfortable Stay

  My family stayed at Hotel International for two nights during a recent visit to Luxembourg. We were graciously upgraded to a junior suite which appeared to have been recently redone. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. We thought the room was the best room we stayed in during our recent two week vacation around Europe. The hotel is relatively big and as other reviews have mentioned is appears to be several buildings combined into one hotel. It took a little getting used to but it was easy to navigate throughout the building. For instance, we had to take two separate elevators to come down from our room, walk across the building, and another elevator to parking garage. Speaking of parking garage, there's a parking garage below the hotel that we utilized but if we had to do it again we would not utilize the garage. There's plenty of parking around the outside of the hotel which would have been much easier to utilize instead of the VERY small garage which was hard to park in. The restaurants within the hotel are nice and we ate at twice, but that was mostly due to the lack of restaurants within Clervaux. We only interacted with the hotel staff at check-in and check-out and they were very friendly.

  Quite nice, this hotel...

  We spent a weekend at the Hotel International in Clervaux. The room was nice, the bed very good. It was clean, and they had bathrobes, towels and slippers in a basket on the room for a visit to the spa. The shower (a bathtub with a screen) has only a fixed faucet, so it´s not really convenient to use. The swimming pool is small, but ok to do some lanes in the morning. My wife found the wellness treatment (massage and hands treatment, by Florine) excellent. The breakfast is the only thing I really didn ´t like about the hotel. Yes, they had ham, cheese, fruits, cereals etc. But if you like some jam in the morning, like me, you had the choice between strawberry and apricot, that ´s it. The rolls were tough and not fresh (deep frosted stuff, my guess). Only orange juice, nothing else. Boring. Though, I must say, the coffee was great. Because of COVID-19, there were certain restrictions, but some stupid guests didn ´t wear masks while running through the breakfast room or roaming the buffett. Here, the hotel should take action and have someone remind them of the security measures. The waiters did an amazing job serving people and cleaning and desinfecting, so guests should appreciate that effort and do their part. The two restaurants that belong to the hotel (Rhino steakhouse and Rhino brasserie) are nice, food is good. At the steakhouse, if you sit outside it´s on both sides of the pedestrian zone, the brasserie has a terrace. We enjoyed our stay, and when we come back to Clervaux, we ´ll probably stay there again.

  Wellness in the center of Clervaux in luxury style

  We made a reservation for an overnight stay in this hotel on the way back from the Saargebiet to the Netherlands. We had some difficulty finding the hotel as it is located in a pedestrian-only street. The rear is however easy accessible by car and it goes directly into the parking garage. The hotel consists of several buildings on both sides of the street and both buildings are connected with an inside passage. This is also to reach the large wellness area. The pool entrance is included in the room rate but the other wellness facilities require an extra fee. The hotel also has it's own bar & lounge area and 2 different restaurants of which one is the Rhino restaurant serving Italian food and also nice steaks. The reception area is on the 1st floor and arriving guests are seated when the check-in procedure takes place. The hotel wants to show a certain luxury but that is not visible in all aspects. The fact that during breakfast some guests are served with champagne is a bit of a nuisance to other guests, just as if they are not treated all the same. But it's a choice of the hotel management and maybe we are the only guests who find this a bit strange. The hotel is well located in the center of Clervaux and the castle is within a close distance. Also other hotels and restaurant are close-by so that a guest has ample choice where to spend his money.
