  Lovely ryokan with lovely okami San

  I came here with my mother to have a nice break. We really enjoyed our stay and food was very good and all stuff are very good and very kind . Traditional Japanese served in a dinner and breakfast in a dinner space. You wear lovely yukata . We will going back next month and we couldn't wait . We will highly recommend to everyone.

  Charming resort with so much delicious food!

  The resorts in Kinugawaonsen area may look a bit run down from the outside, but inside is another world completely. We received such a warm welcome here and stay in a lovely Japanese room. The outdoor onsen was in a superb setting and the food was exceptional. You need to allow more than 1 hour to do justice to breakfast alone!

  Onsen hotel with breakfast and dinner feasts

  The first impression of the ryokan was not pleasant when we contacted them from the train station asking for help to get a taxi/transport to the ryokan as it was snowing heavily. They could not help and we ended up having to walk in the snow with our luggage. It would have been an easy walk as it was only about 5 min away from the train station. But the slope down to the ryokan made it very challenging with the heavy snow. And when we reached the ryokan, we saw a mini bus parked outside which belonged to the ryokan and could not understand why they did not offer to pick us up. Aside from the above episode, the stay was good, with huge feasts for breakfast and dinner. They have both indoor and outdoor onsen and also private onsen which one can pay extra for. I do not recommend the hotel if going up and down slopes is a concern as the only way to access the ryokan is to get through the slope, which is rather steep.

  Warm cosy ryokan

  V charming hotel with few foreigners on the 2 nights that we stayed. We were grateful the hotel provided us with free minibus ride (1-way) to local attractions: Edo Wonderland and Tobu World Square. For the return legs - the hotel surprised us with free pick-ups from the nearest train station (not sure if this is the norm for everyone though) Breakfast and dinner were amazing - just pair it with some warm local sake (~$10 per carafe) - perfect for the chilly weather. Special thanks to the lady who was so helpful at mealtimes (she remembered our 5-year old's water and rice requests) and Watanabe-san who drove us and also communicated with us so promptly on emails. On our way out, we requested for a minibus ride to Kinugawa-Onsen station and the hotel obliged. Just before we departed, the elderly counter lady rushed out to offer candies to our little boy. Sweet endings!

  Excellent and comfortable

  This hotel is a kitty-corner to the Kinugawa Park station. Thats easy to find it enough. There is a spacious and amazing decoration in the lobby. My family was glad to be in this excellent hot spring hotel when we check-in. Many quality Japanese puppets display in the show window and other places. The corridor and everywhere have a lot of collections. We took some pictures and admired interior furnishings. All hotel building is secluded in the valley of Kinugawa. Open the big window can see a natural valley scenery view from the room. We four people stayed in a Japanese style bedroom were crowded. But all the things were nice except the river was loud. The best choice is both breakfast and dinner enjoy at the hotel. Japanese food is always delicious and rich because all the shops on the street will close before at 5 pm even earlier. Hananoyado Matsuya is not a large hot spring hotel but its an excellent and comfortable hotel. If you need peace and privacy to stay a few days, this hotel would be suitable for you.
