Nice hotel for the dads and kidsWe enjoyed our stay The hotel is well run, the rooms are clean and well looked after, the breakfast is ok We went up the mountain to ski in Mont Saxxonex which is just 10 mins away The restaurant menu isn't child friendly with most dishes above 18E We would stay again

The Devil is in the DetailWe needed to find a hotel in the area at fairly short notice, so we werent choosing it for its beautiful picturesque surroundings. As we were attending an event a few kilometres away and returning only to stay the night all we required really was a decent bed, and as La Ferme du Lac is a Michelin recommended hotel we felt we would get that plus a lot more. We booked on-line, but as we would be arriving after the reception desk was closed we drove over to get a security number for the door. We were welcomed warmly by the woman at reception and although it was mid-morning our room was already available and we were able to leave our bags immediately rather than carrying them in when we expected to return, at about midnight. The room was clean and fresh smelling, with the toilet and wash facilities in separate rooms, and the bed was as good as we hoped. So that was the pros, but in the morning the cons crept in. When we opened the curtains the view of the mountains was also the view of an apartment block next door. OK, they cant do much about that, but the view was also of an overflowing ashtray left on the terrace by a previous occupant. When we found that the hotel was Michelin recommended we thought there would be a bonus of getting a decent breakfast before we left on a long drive the following day. There was a reasonable choice of things available, but for instance the cheese and ham selections looked rather tired. There were jams, but several were in nearly empty jars, and coffee was not as good as we had had in a budget hotel earlier. We sat at a table in front of a door out onto the terrace. When wed nearly finished a serving girl pushed by the back of my chair and opened the door; she propped it open for a couple who, despite it being a relatively cool day with light rain, wished to eat breakfast outside. She had said nothing to us and disappeared immediately, so my options were to close the door myself leaving the couple outside to open it again to get to the buffet, or for us to finish more quickly than was comfortable. There were several other tables available, some with chairs stacked on top, but we didnt feel we wanted the disruption of changing tables. In reality if the staff anticipated that the door to the terrace might be open there was no need for the one we were at to have been placed in front of it. When we booked we saw that there was private parking available for 10 a night, but public spaces locally for free. When we first drove over we saw the the private parking was just a space open to the public next to the chalet, and in fact one of the cars there was slightly stuck out into the public path anyway. We opted to park in the layby opposite, and could not understand why anyone would be expected to pay for the convenience of not having to cross the road to reach ones car. We dont stay in hotels that often, but these niggles were not what we expected of one recommended by Michelin and charging accordingly.

Charming and intimateLovely view over a large, pretty parkland area and, of course, mountains. Rooms very comfortable, bathroom good, restaurant excellent. A fairly easy, flat stroll into Cluses, plenty of parking for the hotel,

Charming spot with a nice restaurantSpent three nights here. Its like a wooden cabin feel in the room - very charming. The tubs are nice - I wish the showers were fixed. But over all nice rooms and bathrooms. The restaurant has some nice dishes and the mountain air will whet your appetite and you will appreciate it. Very welcoming staff, did their best to speak to us in English. The location can be a bit of drive off the highway. But enjoyed the visit. Thanks

Stopover gemDid a cheeky overnight here so we could ski on Saturday. Lovely rooms, easy to find and dinner was just amazing. An early breakfast wasnt possible but aside from that is a great choice and would certainly return!
