  Expensive!

  We checked in to this hotel on way to Cherbourg Ferry. Nothing spectacular. Accommodation is little individual chalets around the main complex. Rooms are ok and the bed was King size and very comfortable. We had dinner but menu didn't provide a wide selection and mainly fish dishes. Their speciality seemed to be a meal for 2 @ 75 which involved 13 separate dishes but we didn't feel that hungry. Breakfast was just quite normal continental. Our room, dinner and breakfast came to 180 which I thought was quite expensive. There are certainly better, less expensive options available close by.

  Some detail really make a difference

  We were welcomed by a friendly receptionist. Our room, bungalow type, was nice and clean. The only thing we didn't like was the included diner in our Travelbird arrangement. The hotel has a nice restaurant but we were seated in a "backroom" with horrible cold light and separated from the other guests. It really felt as we were second class guests. The empty plates were taken from the tables as fast as possible. In a place like this there should be absolutely no difference between guests. You could almost call it discrimination although I wouldn't go that far. If one has any commercial feeling about how to treat guests one should really know better. Being an honest person I should mention that we enjoyed breakfast in a nicer place.

  Excellent all around.

  3 Star with a 4 star feeling. All round good service, excellent food, and rooms. Not our first visit, but glad to say that standards were maintained. We will definitely visit it again, and recommend it to anybody.

  Comfortable hotel

  Had a night here after a day at mont st michel. The staff were friendly. We had a family room booked which was in the attic of the main building. The children had beds in the roof and we had a double bed in the main room. The decor was a bit dated and the room quite cramped. I also didn't like the fact that there was no fixed shower over the bath or separate (just a shower attachment). However it was clean and the beds comfy but walls between rooms pretty thin. The downstairs areas were nice and well presented and the children enjoyed the rather cold swimming pool - they didnt think it was heated. Breakfast was excellent - buffet style with a reasonable selection - particularly loved the egg boiler- and well worth the money (adults 12 and children 6 each) - although the hotel is only a couple of miles from some avranches out of town shops / supermarkets. The bungalows looked nice from the outside and we did have a sneaky view into some other rooms which were being cleaned after breakfast and they looked much nicer than ours.

  Pleasant but crowded

  Possibly we chose the wrong day as there were two functions going on. The building is nicely appointed with a comfortable bar and pleasant but bland rooms, There is plenty of parking and the place ius easy to find which is good for passing trade as well as organised events. It appeared to be understaffed for the humbers as service was painfully slow and the food, although beautifully presented was lukewarm and consequently a bit tasteless. Worth a visit one lunchtime perhaps>
