    Bike & Wine

    Riding the Italian Alps

What a fantastic place! We booked a reasonably last minute few days to ride the Italian Alps with the UK government deciding it was ok to travel to Italy. Before the trip we were in contact with Davide and Elisa at the hotel about routes, logistics and costs - they could not have been more helpful. On arrival Gianni showed us to the bike room and was on hand to deal with any issue over the 5 days we were there - nothing was too much trouble. Early breakfasts, booking restaurants, providing lunch, recommending routes and places to park.....just superb. I would not hesitate to return or to recommend the hotel to other cyclists. Super friendly, very comfortable and wonderfully warm hosts who are so helpful. The team at the hotel made the trip - perfectly located for some awesome riding!

An amazing base for cycling the Italian Alps

We spent 4 nights at the hotel this week. All of the staff from Gianni, to the reception girls to Davide the bike guide could not have done more to accommodate us. We rode for 3 days in the mountains (Nivolet, Fauniera & Finestre/Sestriere). All of these climbs are as stunning as they are brutal and are 110% bucket list climbs. We also stayed local to the hotel on the day we left and rode the "wine roads". This was in its own right a fantastic ride! Davide is a wealth of information on riding throughout the region. You want more climbing - speak to Davide. You want more miles - speak to Davide. You get the idea! He has a route for everyone and everything. On to the hotel. Firstly, it is spotlessly clean throughout! The rooms are large and comfortable and have a safe to store your valuables in. Had an issue with adjusting the air conditioning, which the reception girls resolved immediately. The bike room is VERY secure and VERY cool. They have everything you need to fettle your bike before hitting the climbs including track pumps, workstands, all tools etc. They also have Pinarello F10's with mechanical Dura Ace to hire (top spec bikes!) amongst other bikes and e-bikes. There is also a load of cool memorabilia in there. Food in the hotel is great. Breakfast was varied and there was plenty (great coffee too). We were out riding all day, so Gianni made us a fantastic pack up to take with us. We even got pizza from him one day which was delicious! We had a 4 course meal included in the evenings. This was also delicious; they use a lot of their own produce grown in their own gardens. We fancied pizza one night, so the hotel arranged a table at a local (10 min drive) pizza restaurant. It was awesome too! Not only that but when we asked for the bill, the hotel had paid for the food for us. We certainly didn't expect it (and I wouldn't take it for granted) but it was a wonderful touch by them. Every evening, you put your cycling kit in a mesh bag and leave it in a laundry basket outside your room. The next morning, the kit is washed and dried and ready for you by 8am. I was a little apprehensive as cycling kit can be very easily damaged if washed incorrectly, however, no issues whatsoever here either! Included in our package was a very nice Piedmont Bike Hotel Santini cycling jersey. As a group, we have been fortunate to ride in the French Alps/Pyrenees as well as Girona etc. The Piedmont region is easily as good, if not better and is as accessible from the UK as any of these regions. It was a 1hr 40min flight from Heathrow to Turin and a 40 min transfer from Turin airport to the hotel. Obviously, as I type, it is the only one of these areas that you can travel to without needing to self-isolate for 14 days on return. I would not hesitate to recommend a trip to the Piedmont Bike Hotel and will be returning as soon as possible to tick off the rest of the climbs in the region!

    Absolutely Fabulous Experience

This was my first time trying a bike holiday. As Im not very experienced I was nervous about going on this kind of trip and very worried I would not be able to do some of the trips. How wrong was I ! I had the most amazing experience cycling around this beautiful area most enjoyable indeed, so much so I went out every day much to my husbands delight. We live in Switzerland and often go cycling around our wine hills, but it was a fabulous adventure to cycle through the hills, villages and take in the views, to see the difference of the wine area compared to ours. We were very lucky to be invited to a family run wine cellar to sample not only the wine but the local food. Excellent!!! Our guide Paolo was so kind, understood my concerns and took me on rides that not only was I comfortable with but loved every minute of every day. By the end of the week I was very tired but still smiling. I will definitely be back. The hotel was very good and clean and a great location. Food was really good and they had a excellent wine list. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and nothing was a problem. Every day they washed your cycling clothes which was greatly appreciated.
