From Wow! (2013) to Ouch! (2019)

2013: First visited and stayed at the main building, which honestly speaking was one of the most memorable hotel experiences in our lives from the incredibly friendly and well trained staff easily able to respond to challenging situations, to the very comfortable and tastefully appointed rooms with LOccitane brand toiletries. This indeed was a gem of a boutique hotel delicately tucked away in the breathtaking atmosphere of this little well-preserved village in the historic North Aegean region. 2019: Coming back again to this once favorite hotel for a long-awaited New Years stay with family (party of 10 with kids) we booked two of the 3 available villas, which claimed to provide comfort, beauty, and luxury. Not quite the case in any one of these fronts to our utter dismay! First our brother-in-law and his family arrived with their new-born, and found their villa smelling like heavy sewage every time they ran the water in their villas bathroom or kitchen. As per the hotel management, the whole water tank apparently had to be flushed, refilled and chlorinated to allow for a sanitary stay, which cost them a day of their vacation. The following day, we arrived with our 10 year old and our 70 year old mom, now somewhat afraid we would experience the same faith of the very foul smell in our villa. When we checked in, we noticed a similar smell in our bathroom, though not as bad, and when complained were told that the hotel was experiencing this issue these days, though we werent sure what to make of this vague explanation. The situation was much compounded by a heavy smoke smell in one of the rooms of our villa, where our daughter and our mom were supposed to spend their two nights of the New Years vacation. When we first informed the reception of the issue, we were rudely told that things like this were expected in small village hotels. Upon our insistence with the hotel manager and a further inspection, we found out that the unbreathable smell was coming from a leak in the outlet pipes of the boiler room situated right behind the walls of our villa. There were even traces of ash on the pillows that found their way through the wooden panels in the walls. As the room was literally uninhabitable, we had to 1) send our daughter to sleep in a third room we had booked for our mother- and father-in-law; and 2) we had to move our mom out in middle of a stormy night to another temporary room in the hotel, as we were told this room did not have any availability next day so she would have to relocate back to her smoky room the following night. This left me and my wife alone in a 2.000 TRY per night villa (!) with very uncomfortable and almost breakneck quality pillows to sleep on (there were 8, and we tried them all!), place smelling like smoke still at 3am in the morning while Im writing this review, with the poorly secured doors of our small courtyard squeaking and smashing against the beautiful stone walls of our comfortable and luxurious villa due to the storm outside. But I guess this all should be expected in a small village hotel even though you pay an arm and a leg for the memory of a once boutique hotel. Not quite the peachy start to an expensive New Years family vacation one would expect. We simply should have saved ourselves the trouble of driving down 5 hours from Istanbul, and should have instead spent the money more wisely for a proper nights stay at The Ritz-Carlton in Istanbul!

    Great butik otel !

This was a truly great discovery as butik hotel in Yeil yurt. Very nice and cosy room, splendid location with high provence feeling (including the tree crickets) and especially the top restaurant. Must stay here and have dinner !

    Sad trip

We probably hoped for more after listening to friends visiting previously and seeing nice web site and views. Buildings made nicely and decorated fine, But not maintained well probably due to the pandemic. We stayed in the suite looking towards sea and valley. Valley is not the same as before. Canadian gold company is doing all the destruction and the damage in the area. There is a road construction site in the valley making all the noise and the dust. Dinner was fine but not in the level of Michelin or anything close. Breakfast was fine except, they didnt have enough shade area to eat comfortably. Overall mixed feelings and we didnt want to stay in the pavilion beach as nothing special there!
