  A very good hotel

  We had a great week here. It is an old-fashioned three star hotel which is much of its charm. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was excellent although we had to find where our identifying card had been put on a different table every day!. The room was well proportioned with a small balcony. One important point- we booked it through Booking.com and although we asked for two road bikes, this information was not passed on to the hotel who ended up charging us 340 euros for the hire of two bikes for 5 days. I guess I should have also written directly to the hotel, but I didn't. It did piss me off a bit but I got over it.

  Perfect holiday

  We spend a wonderful cycling holidays in Gabicce Mare with Marinella team. The road trip was great organized, very good guide Alexander, friendly van driver and his wife add cozy and safe feeling to this trip...excellent service on the tour and after it. Friendly staff at all 4 hotels, wonderful views, tolerant car drivers, garage for car and bike... In short: Great place, great staff, good food, good wine...It could not be better

  Another perfect holidays with Marinella team

  Full of new, wonderful impressions, we just return from Gabicce where we spend another great holidays in Hotel Marinella. It is difficult to express with words how wellcome and cosy can be with Marinella stuff...You realy have to vist them and drive some kilometers with bike guide Alessandro who is very good in cycling and knowing history and interesting things about places we traveled. Oscura tour was great (we have to do it again!! :)) but also this year Fiorella and her husband (great pulmino driver) make the road trip perfect... Thank you once again all the stuff in Marinella hotel and all the family who created a wonderful atmosphere and make you really wellcome... Sandra & Andrej

  Very friendly, great value hotel

  Having booked this via an Italian friend, on arrival we wondered if he had understood our requirements, as on first glance the hotel/room is perhaps a little outdated and the resort is a busy place. HOW WRONG WE WERE! The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, answered every question, gave us a lift to the station one day, organised bike hire for a day, and generally pointed us in the right direction. We were the only English people in the hotel, and for the first five days, we didnt hear another English person in the whole resort (bliss) - not every staff member speaks good English, however between us all we were understood. We booked half board which includes wine at dinner. Ok, its fizzy and out of a pump but drinkable. We werent there to get drunk, we were there to relax, enjoy and see some sights. Our day out on (pedal assisted) bikes, organised by the hotel, was fun, just cycling around the area. I tend to eat Gluten Free which the hotel were aware of, and every evening the chef, without prompting, pointed out which of the main meal options was suitable. Dont expect gourmet food, just good home cooked type food with salad options and good desserts. Rooms are a good size, kept very clean, and have a bath with shower over. All rooms have a balcony, we would recommend a sea view room as the others overlook the small garden and the busy, but mostly pedestrian road. Every member of staff, from the owner, reception staff, and restaurant staff looked after us. You are allocated the same table in the restaurant for the duration of your stay, we were lucky as we had a table by the doors overlooking the beach area. Breakfast is continental buffet style but you can apparently ask for things like scrambled eggs, but we didnt find the need. You get allocated beds on the beach with the room type that we had (Mistral) although we didnt quite understand this on the first trip to the beach as we managed to bypass the staff . If you want a bed in the first 3 rows you will need to pay extra. On first glance the beach seems busy but there is room for all! Sea is warm and easy to swim in. Plenty of other things to do on the beach near the entrance for kids, such as table tennis, swings, boules, and there are showers/ changing rooms but as we went to the section right opposite the hotel we didnt need to use these. There is a tourist Dotto train which takes you up to the Mount area, or the market, or other local areas. Well worth the few euro price. All in all, a lovely atmosphere in the hotel and resort, good value, great staff, and would we return - most definitely YES!

  A lovely place to go

  We were in a right state about choosing a holiday can bear flicking through brochures and the internet. However an Italian friend Max, (who holds pop up restaurants and arranges Italian lifestyle holidays for cyclists etc) extolling the virtues of the Italian life, literally saved us. We were offered several choices of where to go in Italy so we chose Gabicce Mare which is near on the cost not far from San Marino. The hotel was clean throughout run buy fantastic staff. Our room was modest but had all we needed, the bathe big enough for him n her, was cleaned daily. We had a view over the beach, AC and a ceiling fan which was a god send. Breakfast typically continental, Dinner same only with a choice of hot food. We sat at the same table all week next to patio doors to the open air. Meal times were again calm organised no chaos. The Staff were amazing nothing to much trouble. We were sceptical of the look of the area when we got there ie all the sun beds, kids activities etc but it was so well organised, clean, we were so wrong on the first impression. The whole place grew on us and we are going again next year. We hired 2 electric assisted bicycles(delivered to the hotel) for a day and had a mooch round, hired a car (Fiat Panda) dropped to the door with fuel. We went on search to turtles via a train hotel dropped us at the station and collected us ! For a hotel that is not a major 5* hotel it had so much to offer. Max has good connections in Italy and is Italian and used to live in the areas where he arranges the holidays. Max arranged flights, hire car, hotel, transfers, everything I mean everything. I can highly recommend Max he is located in Crowborough East Sussex. If you are stuck with nowhere to go I would most certainly contact Max. max@genuineitalianfood.co.uk
