  Nice hotel to stay

  Cannot judge the location, but the hotel itselft is really good. Except a longer opening hours for cafe bar (more than 10PM) I wouldn't ask for more. For good price you'll get a nice, clean room. Even computer is available and iron with ironing board.

  Good Hotel, Great Value

  The Ningguo International Hotel is situated in the city center; walking distance to shopping, dining and nightlife. It is about as western as as you will find this far off the beaten path. Their rooms are clean and comfortable offering many of the amenities westerners are accustomed to. I have stayed in many different Chinese International hotels, and this one is one of the better ones. Like many Chinese hotels, the air conditioning could be better in the summer months. My room in the summer would only cool down to about 27. My stay this fall was comfortable since the windows can be opened widely. The Air Conditioning had been disabled for the winter. Sheets, blankets and pillows were all up to western standards. The mattress unfortunately is Chinese - very, very hard, with little padding. If you are used to Chinese mattresses, this one is better than average. Almost all signage is in Chinese and English, so there are not problems knowing what is what. To sum it up, when I come to Ningguo (and this year I have been here four times), this is where I stay.

  Value for Money - Very good service even to Foreign Travellers

  Overall experience was very nice. the staff was very co-operative. Room were well managed. Large size LCD TV, Computer, Electronic switches for lighting, outside view from window was very nice. If you are a pure vegi then you have to take just fruit & fruit juice, rice with vegetables. You can exchange foreign currency here.

  A few small changes and it would be a great hotel

  Having come to the relatively tiny city of Ningguo I confess to being surprised by the quality of this hotel. PROS: The room was comfortable and spacious (business standard room) and there was also a computer in the room for free use. Wifi is free throughout and no password needed. All the toiletries you may need are included, plus other items available in the room at extra cost. Surprisingly I encountered a very pleasant girl working in reception who spoke reasonable English - always a plus but I did have a Chinese companion should there have been any communication difficulties. The bed was in the Chinese firm style but not so firm as not give a good sleep comfort to a soft westerner. Do not expect to find milk or sugar to put into the sachets of Nescafe, bring your own carton. The place is kept quite clean and it was a refreshing change not only to have that awful body wash but also decent sized bars of soap to clean yourself with. The shower is only an in-bath one but the pressure is good and the water temperature constant. There was an efficient fridge in the room. Aircon kept the room nice and cold. CONS: The only TV channel in English is CCTV News. On my last morning I decided to go and investigate the breakfast offerings. Despite the internet saying there was a western restaurant, there isn't and I did ask at reception if breakfast had anything remotely western. I was assured there was yoghurt and bread. There were neither, although had I wanted I could have had a dessicated, curled up fried egg cooked God knows when. I passed. The "lobby bar" only serves tea and coffee. Other guests during my stay had no inhibition in knocking loudly on adjoining room doors at all hours of the night, nor of letting their children run amok in the corridors early in the morning.

  Full Disappointment

  First impression from the outside: Ok, a little bit used. The lobby is small, no bar, no place to sit, no opportunity to get anything to drink. The staff speaks nearly no english and makes a quite unprofessional impression. The hotel was the worst of our trip through Anhui and at the same time the most expensive. Very low value for money. The rooms are average (hard bed, no english TV channel), the carpet is so dirty that you will not take of your shoes, all rooms and corridor smell like the smoking lounge at the airport, the bathroom very small and dirty. A lot of mold around the bathtub. Shower gel will be offered in 1.5 Liter bottles. There was no opportunity for dinner. We asked a few times and received the information that there is no restaurant. Maybe as there was a wedding. The breakfast buffet was a full disappointment. Nearly no western dishes, a broken toaster, ugly coffee. Our most happy moment was when we left the hotel.
