  Regulars here but...

  We find this hotel clean convenient and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The down side is paying for parking and also internet. Most hotels provide at least free wifi. The beds need upgrading as they are lumpy and old. Otherwise happy and will be back

  Managed isolation made manageable

  We arrived here in late June for our 14 days of managed isolation. In my view, we were fortunate. Staying put for 14 days is not pleasant, but the hotel staff have done everything they can to make our stay manageable. The front desk staff were are sincerely polite and always try to help with any issues. The housekeeping staff called every day and made extra effort to ensure we had what we needed for our stay. We received three meals a day, and they were of high quality. We were allowed on the immediate grounds, and these are pleasant. Considering the overall stress levels due to the circumstances, the kindness and calmness shown by all the staff here has been nothing but exemplary.

  You are doomed: Internet is lousy

  If your NZ$3,100 managed isolation is at the Novotel (or Ibis) Ellerslie, you be driven insane by the appalling Internet, which now barely breaks 1.00 on speedtest.net. Under normal circumstances the Internet may be fine, but the hotel is packed, and the guests have nothing to do but stream and surf. The hotel's infrastructure cannot cope. There is an offsite helpdesk, but nothing will be done to relieve your pain. Bring books, and a shovel to dig a tunnel. The food's pretty good.

  Managed isolation

  Slow internet. Cold to luke warm food. The most uncomfortable bed Ive ever slept in. We did have the carpark to exercise in for fresh air whilst wearing a mask, however it appeared this was optional for the security staff as they appeared to wear them around their chins or not at all.

  Awesome isolation hotel

  Have had 2 weeks in isolation at the Novotel Ellerslie. Its been way better than I expected. Great hotel with the best exercise area - large space for walking /running outside and the staff are most hospitable. In particular Parth the front desk manager who handled a difficult situation with grace and professionalism- excellent guy - thank you Parth. Also great thanks to all the security staff who have a tough job managing guests but do it with friendliness and kindness. Food great and rooms comfortable.
