    Good price, average accommodation

The room was comfortable enough but the decor was tired and scuffed. Reasonable evening meal, average breakfast. The hotel is next to a school, with a single track entrance road shared by both, making it difficult to drive out in the morning when all the school traffic was coming the other way.

    Not too shabby

Stayed here in the Presidential Suite incorporating the NHS, Social Services and Private Sector for Lymphoedema in Kent (Swelling Matters). Great room with excellent facilities. Food was OK. Grounds were lovely despite the dire weather in Kent recently.

    Expectations werent met

Its a beautiful building from the outside, and on arriving I was impressed. However as someone who has stayed in hundreds of hotels it fell below expectations. I see that the place is clearly used mostly for conferences, which explained the bizarre layout of empty large rooms you had to travel through to access your room. I stayed a few nights and learnt that many war veterans with PTSD were living there, which felt a little strange, even though it enabled some interesting conversations in the pretty gardens. The staff dealing with the breakfasts were very polite and attentive as well and flexible with dietary demands even if the offerings were dated. The hotel is situated far from any shops or amenities so if youre unwilling to walk you are tied to lunch in the bar, which is unstaffed till 2pm, and offers a few sandwich options which were all pretty poor. I ordered lunch and was met with blank looks, then subsequently I watched through the kitchen as they slapped my underwhelming sandwich together. The dinner options again, were very poor. The tv in my room was at least 25 years old and didnt work. The decor is tired, greying and extremely dated for such a beautiful exterior and the furniture pretty tasteless. There was some confusion on check out with some charges to the room which I queried, as the person I was with had charged things to the account without my knowledge and I was confronted with a very strange receptionist with some sort of oral condition with a very accusatory tone, threatening to check the cctv that made me feel like I was some sort of criminal. I checked out and went to the fantastic village hotel which offers the level of facilities and services Id expect for the price I paid. I live in London and have paid less for much much better. Id recommend this for a purely conference based situation, not for leisure.

Currently housing hordes of illegal immigrants

Give it a wide berth, now and in the future. This place deserves to go broke - make it your patriotic duty to ensure that it happens An absolute disgrace when there ex-serviceman living on the streets,
