Good location...butThe Ocean Pines Resort is located just North of the town of Duck at a point in the road where the distance between the beach and the Sound is very narrow. The resort stretches from the Ocean to the Sound with just a few units directly on the sound and several units that are oceanfront and many units in-between that are neither. Our unit, as most of the units was a 3-story townhouse style with covered parking on the ground floor, bedrooms on the 2nd level, and living space and kitchen on the 3rd level. Decks on both the 2nd and 3rd level. We directly overlooked Duck Rd. with a peek of the Sound. Unfortunately, in addition to the traffic noise, our unit had an overwhelming musty odor, especially on the sleeping level. The bedroom closets were smelly to the point that we couldn't use them. We couldn't leave windows and doors open to alleviate the odor because it was too hot outside and noise of the traffic on Duck Road would wake us up at 5am. All our "clean" clothes needed to be washed from the odor when we returned home. Oh, and Palmetto Bugs, where often found both dead and alive in our unit. The positive about this resort is the Beach. We were there in September and never had an issue with the beach being crowded. Our unit was a 5-7 minute walk to the beach but parking near the ocean was available for resort guests. We exchanged about 2 weeks before our trip for minimal points. Therefore, we are not terribly disappointed in what we received in exchange! We are also a family that would put up with a lot for a week at the beach!

In need of serious maintenanceWe stayed at this resort using our exchange through RCI. Everything was old and worn, rusty shower curtain rods, mildew on shower curtain, torn carpets, cabinet doors loose/off hinges, closet doors in master bedroom broken, toilet in master bath loose on base and tipped forward, master bedroom closet shelves made of particle board that splintered and came off on our clothes, overall in need of serious updating and maintenance -- not what we would expect from RCI considering what we pay every year to be part of the RCI group. Can't tell you how disappointed we were in this resort. Certainly a 1 or 2-star resort (at best) considering its age and lack of updating and poorly maintained units. We did not even want to go into the common areas based on the experience we had in our unit itself. What a shame, since the location is really great. For our yearly maintenance fee PLUS the exchange fee, we could have stayed at a much nicer resort and paid nightly for less money.

Pitiful PinesThe pine trees are the nicest part of this so called resort? Looks inticing going in to the place but the condos aren't much. Lots of stairs inside n outside. Bedding not all that comfortable. Lots of bugs in windows n screen door? Don't waste your money!

Outer Banks GetawayOcean pines is a nice resort if you are looking for a place in Duck in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It is clean and has amenities for all. Swimming pool with a spa in the pool building, shuffleboard and tennis court, as well as a basketball hoop. Beach access is good. The resort is a little tired, and starting to show its age. However, the units are clean with everything functioning and the staff is responsive and on top of things. The grounds are clean, and maintained. All amenities at resort were open even though we were there the week after Christmas. We found this a blessing since the Covid restrictions were in place. The resort adheres to Covid guidelines and practices.
