  La mejor vista para los atardeceres de Newport

  Nos habían recomendado este lugar para ver el atardecer, que ocurría exactamente a las 6:30 pm el 29 de septiembre pasado. Nos sentamos cómodamente sobre el borde de la terraza que da al océano tomando unas copas, poseen una excelente selección de single malts escoceses y buenos champagnes franceses. Aunque el cielo estaba nublado cerca del anochecer una luz solar roja empezó a colarse por entre los huecos de las nubes cubriendo de dicho color todo a su alrededor. Cerca de las 6:30 el rojo abarcaba las nubes y el mar y todos los mozos y el personal del hotel se acercó a donde estábamos a tomar fotografías ya que, dijeron, fue otro increible anochecer en esta pequeña isla. Terminamos nuestras copas, agradecimos al personal la posibilidad de disfrutar el momento y continuamos nuestro periplo por la maravillosa y señorial Newport

  Bonito Más no lo esperado

  Ok, es un muy bonito hotel, una excelente vista al mar, un lindo atardecer, habitación confortable, sin embargo hay cosas por mejorar... no lo recomiendo para familias con niños ya que no tiene facilidades para ellos no te da alternativa de diversión o cosas para ocupar el tiempo, no hay piscina ni opciones. El desayuno es muy limitado, esperaba mucho más... creo que el precio no justifica las solas instalaciones. El personal requiere algo más de entrenamiento en servicio y el Room Service a pesar q es rápido no es bueno, te trae lo que pides pero por ejemplo si pides pizza no te dan una servilleta un plato o un cubierto... el hotel es más un lugar de eventos donde los invitados pueden dormir pero no más que esto... En la reserva solicitamos 3 personas pero solo nos dieron una cama, debieron traer otra para acomodarnos, limitaron las toallas a 2, nunca nos dieron una tercera toalla, no se esmeraron por el servicio.

  Good but bad

  A family event is the reason for my stay at the Ocean Cliff in Newport,RI. This is an older mansion that has been converted to an event venue with a restaurant and 24 hotel rooms. It is sitting right on the water with fantastic views of the bay. The grounds are very nicely landscaped and well maintained. The buildings, while dated, are also maintained. The challenge was with the room. The property has only queen and king beds. I was traveling with my dad so when making the reservation I requested a roll away and a room with space that would accommodate the roll away. On check-in we were assigned room 5. While this room is spacious and has several very nice large windows the view is totally blocked by very large air condition units and a the peaked roof of their banquet facilities. While there are other large rooms none were available due to a wedding that was scheduled and a block of rooms booked for the wedding guests. I asked about other options to change rooms. The absolute only option was to move one room to the left. This was room 4b. Decent size and the window and view was only partially blocked. I opted to change rooms. Unfortunately room 4b is a connecting room. I had read reviews about issues with noise. But thought how bad can it really be. Unfortunately it is BAD. The doors both entry and connecting doors in the rooms have gaps all around which allow all sound from the hall and connecting rooms to be heard. I found out how bad when my sleep was disturbed at 5 in the morning by the alarm in the room connecting to ours. I heard it so clearly I actually checked to make sure it wasnt my phone alarm. The next noise is at 5:30 from the baby that was in the connecting room. It was as if the child was in our room. I could hear the parents as they tried to quiet him down. I am sure they didnt realize other guests were being disturbed because the noise continued off and on until 7 am. Suggestions when making your reservation: 1. Be clear and request your reservation include a note that you do not want a connecting room - but be prepared to accept one if there are no other room options when you check in. Hopefully you will have exceptionally quiet neighbors. 2. Ask if any events are booked during the time you will be there. With the location of the rooms and the banquet facility I would expect you would hear music and quite a bit of noise from the function. At check-in you are asked to sign a paper which outlines they book and hold functions and there could be noise. Positives of the room are a comfy bed with nice linens. Bathroom is small but the vintage marble is great. Service is good and employees are friendly and welcoming.

  Awesome

  The room was very clean and big too. Had a great view of the bay and the ships going by. The restaurant downstairs was delicious and has a great view of the sunset over the bay. It is a far drive to the city but it is worth it. Very nice!

  Beautiful place, beautiful setting

  Our accommodations were very clean, the hotel is in a perfect, quiet and beautiful location. The staff was very friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions, they wrote down addresses and provided us with a map of the area. The view from our very large room was New England perfect. Loved it.
