  Excellent place, and value for service

  Stayed there one night only, for a meeting in the region. The place was very convenient, rooms are big and comfortable, with free WiFi. Dinner, breakfast and service are perfect. Definitively worth it !

  It's just a bit ... strange ...

  I lived in Meppen for a year about 20 years ago and so thought it would be nice to return and stop over for a short break. Unfortunately there aren't many hotel options, but I know of someone that stayed in the Parkhotel that didn't complain so guessed that it might be okay. We arrived at the hotel to find it very busy with cyclists. It appears that it is a popular option for those that want to tour the local (flat) area. Of course, that didn't detract from our stay. The receptionist was fairly welcoming, although my German is weak, as was their English so it was a bit of a trial to muddle through. However, we got there! Our room was on the first floor. The décor was pleasant, if not a bit dated. At one end of the room was a small room containing a shower, at the other end of the room was a small room containing the toilet. Both rooms were bit enough to hold both. The layout was just a bit odd. We had dinner in the restaurant. Thankfully our waiter spoke better English than the receptionist so we managed to order something reasonable (and there was an English menu with a reasonable translation). A lot of the food options are very traditional, which was fine. One of us opted for a schnitzel, the other a steak. Unfortunately we missed breakfast due to the lack of communication at the time of check-in. We forgot that breakfast was included (we were on a road trip and many hotels don't include it) and the receptionist didn't mention it. It was our fault, but we were disappointed that we didn't realise under after check-out. In summary; the hotels not that bad but if I was back in the area I'd hesitate to visit Meppen and one of the reasons for this would be for lack of a better hotel.

  Nice, family run place at a good price

  My family of four stayed here for a family reunion. This is a well-run hotel with good food and friendly staff. The rooms were nicely furnished. The only two knocks are the poorly furnished fitness room, which is being used partly as a storage area, and the people who were allowed to smoke right in front of the doors, which pulled the second-hand smoke into the hotel hallways. If they designated a smoking area well away from the doors and strengthen their fitness area, this place would get a 5 from me.

  Quaint hotel with fabulous staff

  This is a small, quaint hotel with a lot to offer. The rooms are small, but comfortable. They have a huge fitness center and sauna. The hotel restaurant is wonderful. Breakfast is quite a spread and dinner is like eating in a four star restaurant. The staff makes all the difference. They are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Lara gets lots of kudos from me. She was a great hostess.

  One of the best places to start a bicycle tour in the Emsland region

  The Parkhotel in the city of Meppen is located near to the river Ems and the local wood and not fare away from downtown. I spent a whole week there and since I wanted to make a bicycle tour every day the start point was ideal. The room has a good size, the necessary appliances and all was clean. There is also a good equipped fitness room to relax after a tour and a sauna. I found that the hotel personal is friendly and helpful with all clients The category of the hotel restaurant is first rate. It offers an abundant breakfast buffet and different dishes well prepared and tasty for dinner. The relation between quality and price is acceptable.
