  They will make you feel welcomed and special

  We spent a fantastic 5 days at Pension Elan back in February 2015 with our 2 kids and parents! It is not only the surroundings, the nature and Arber skiing slopes which made the stay special. It is actually the owners - John and Irina - who create that one and only, exceptional and extraordinary touch of the place. These guys are absolutely fantastic in whatever they do and how they do it! Probably these are the most passionate and enthusiastic people when it comes to running their business and really living the "care of the guests" spirit. They both work so hard to run this place so, that you would like to return again and again. Many people praised John's chef's skills, but they have not said enough. He creates feasts for your senses with the way he cooks and presents the food. The grilled piggy, Croatian meat and veggies stew, homemade strawberry ice-cream...we still carry the tastes on our lips... Irina is such a lovely and warm hearted woman, thanks to her, the rooms are so cosy, neat and tidy. Everything is great about this place - the location, the tranquility, the neat rooms, plentiful breakfast, premium restaurant quality dinners and most importantly - the people running it. I do not imagine that anyone would find anything to complain on. The only occasion you would regret - is if you do not go there. :) John and Irina, million thanks for this great time at your place and all the best for you, your girls and your business!   Wonderfully Welcoming, Awesome Grill Night

  At the end of May 2015, we spent a weekend in the Bavarian Forest and chose to stay at Pension Elan because of its proximity to the highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest the "Große Arber". We and two other families had a delightful stay. We arrived very very late because of a major road accident and despite the late hour, we were welcomed heartily. Our children stayed with friends in the large apartment area which has two double bedrooms and baths and a small kitchen and big sitting area. The parents stayed in clean and very comfortable double bedrooms. The pension abuts the forest and has a lovely garden area for sitting and enjoying the view and eating. The owners take pets under certain circumstances and are very accommodating. They cooked us a fabulous mixed grill one night including a large variety of meats, chicken wings soaked in a fabulous coconut sauce (yum), homemade barbecue sauces (don't miss the garlic one), and fabulous roasted vegetables. Afterwards we were allowed to try a few shots of delicious schnapps. The breakfast was also memorable with good fresh fruits, a changing variety of tarts, smoked salmon and cold cuts, a variety of cereals, breads, and good coffee. Both the adults and the kids found it extremely welcoming. We would gladly go back and wholeheartedly recommend the pension, especially for its remarkable service and food. Einfach Tall!   Still excellent

  After our previous thoroughly enjoyable visit we were very much looking forward to our next three night stay at the Pension Elan. We were very warmly welcomed and John and Irina recognised us from our first stay. The room was as expected, smallish but big enough for our needs and warmly decorated and clean. We immediately made use of the well stocked honesty bar downstairs and had a long chat with John in the garden over a beer. As were were belatedly celebrating my birthday, my girlfriend had pre-arranged with John that on two of our evenings he'd cook suckling pig and black squid ink risotto for us (he'd foolishly mentioned this speciality on our first visit :-)). The food was AMAZING, especially the risotto which (and again thanks for going to all of the extra effort) had obviously taken ages to prepare. This he served with a perfectly cooked salmon steak which made me decide I actually do like salmon. For activities we walked from the Pension to the top of the Grosser Arber via the Kleiner Arbersee - there's a great forest path which leads all the way round - highly recommended. Other than that we did some other hiking up the Grosser Falkenstein and wandered around the charming town where we found a festival going on hosted by the local fire service (with beer of course). Overall a fantastic stay yet again, thanks to John and Irina for making my belated birthday celebration so enjoyable.

  Great service, all inclusive!!

  Loved this place, the new owners are very friendly and service oriented! They have a great breakfast!! You will also get a card from them to enjoy many discounts for transportation and museums, we saved with it an average of 25 EUR per day per person!!

  Friendly host, nice property.

  My wife and I stayed here for two nights whilst motorcycle touring through the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. John, our English speaking Germany host, was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well appointed, breakfast was good with a selection of cereals, fruit,bread,cold meat, cheese etc. John gave us tips on places of interest to visit and where some scenic biking roads could be found. All in all an enjoyable stay.
