Lights are on, but nobody's home!

CLOSED! Stopped by this property to investigate bringing a group here next summer. The signage has been removed, and when we finally got someone to answer, they indicated that it's under new management, catering to corporate clients, and may or may not be available for public bookings. We took a brief tour of the rooms - they're looking pretty run down. Maybe things will turn around under new management, but for now, the Radio Inn is history!

We always love staying so close to Line 1 on the underground

It is just a few minutes from where we lived and taught in Budapest in 1996/7 and in summer schools later. All our friends stayed there and loved it because of the large rooms, ability to self-cater a little, quiet street and nearness to Hero,s Square, the Opera House, ace coffee shops and cafes, the hot baths in the park and ace transport along Andrassy Utca, a very short walk away.

One of the best things that helped make Budapest even more groovy than before!

I had picked an airBnb place (nearby) for our first night in Budapest (now THAT was an experience! my husband could not have gotten out of that situation fast enough). after this auspicous start, i assured Jim we would look in the neighborhood for something reasonable, (fearing he otherwise bolt for the dependable but not inexpensive IBIS Hotel across town). The flower shop folks told us to look further up Benczur St. and am i ever glad that they did! The front desk manager of Radio Inn was so very courteous (from day one through day three!), as was the housekeeper who showed me the room before booking and the young man who helped us with our (wired) internet connection. Late at night before we were to leave, I asked via internet if i could have an important legal document printed. although we left very early, i received a reply from the owner that s/he would have the front desk do so. This was just one of several "kindnesses" exhibited by a very concientious staff. the room was quiet and clean, the radiator could be turned off (or on, as we were initially drying skivvies on them), the bed was low, but firm and suited us fine. the very best and kindest thing was, with a heaving bag of laundry and no launderettes in site since we had left bordeaux, was asking if they could arrange 7 kilo of laundry. the manager indicated that this would be no problem (& at no charge!?!). we returned late that evening to find items done as professionally as if we had stayed at the Waldorf and asked to have them clean Chanel & Ralph Lauren's newest clothing line instead of thrift store clothing we will cast off in another week or two! When i noted that the price of a place we had stayed several days before had been cheaper on Booking.com, the host said this was true, there, at Radio Inn. since i could not get on internet until i had checked in, he offered his own computer and booted up Booking.com in order for me to put in our information and get the best price. I would have to say that thanks to the very reasonable pricing for a double room (average 28 Euro/night) and the pleasantness of our stay at Radio Inn, we remained in Budapest one more night than we would have otherwise, and therefore had a relaxing time enjoying all that this "low-key Prague" capital has to offer.

    Ideal place for a stag-do

This place was included in our organised stag-do through an events company as it's cheap, comfortable and friendly. Not too far from the city centre (walk or two minute taxi ride). Capital Square just up the road. Very spacious, self catering facilities.
