  Innkeeper/Host Signor Protti---Truly "A Prince Among Men"

  A second visit to the beloved Relais San Pietro in Polvano proved to us what many canny travelers to Tuscany already know: Owner, Signor Luigi Protti deserves legendary status. As if from an earlier time when courtly respect was the rule, the diminutive host, clad in bespoke striped shirts, perfectly paired with Italian silk ties and impeccably tailored trousers, makes it a point to extend a personal, warm welcome to the fortunate travellers whose GPS devices have successfully navigated the winding Tuscan village roads leading to his serene haven---a scenic path, well worth taking. Signor Protti's warm personal approach is apparent throughout one's stay as he may be seen bringing a guest's favorite beverage---cappuccino?---herb tea?---Prosecco? on a silver tray to complement the sumptuous meals prepared by his wife, the chef. It is a family affair, a labor of love, which makes it appear effortless to provide such memorable stays in the Tuscan countryside as those inspired by the "legendary" Signor Protti---an effort he has perfected while attaining the venerable age of 85. ---Truly a Prince among men.

  Magnificent

  For those who appreciate attention to detail; professionalism, high standards and value for money this property represents all from start to finish... The host Luigi clearly a man of wisdom , experience and knowledge has created a first class experience for a fair price which would put many luxury accommodations to shame. We experienced 2 room types both which were immaculately clean, spacious and have been well thought out to serve all your needs. Equally the grounds and pool area were extremely well kept, idyllic and incredible views. Breakfast was quality produce, plentiful and well presented. We also chose to have dinner which didn't disappoint and again was delivered with old school professionalism and in the words of Luigi 'casual but elegant' dress code. Would highly recommend this property for couples and groups of friends all year round.

  Country living

  End of summer is a pleasant time of peace and quiet in an area very close to big towns like Cortona .and Arezzo. Luigi Pronti and his family treated us warmly and provided incredible breakfasts and an option for dinner on the terraces at night. Excellent meals. Great place for long walks/hikes and a refreshing pool.

  Beautiful location, excellent service.

  The hotel is set on a hillside. Views from the terrace, and our rooms, were stunning at all times of day. We had a very spacious two room suite, it was immaculately clean and well presented. Luigi and his staff are highly professional, the standard of service was excellent at all times. Dinner always started with a glass of Prosecco on the terrace, or inside on cooler evenings, and we ate in the restaurant on each of our six days - the food being so good we could not justify a trip elsewhere. Breakfast also offers an excellent choice, with Luigi on hand to serve coffee and freshly scrambled eggs. A car is essential and the access road wouldn't suit a nervous driver due to its width and a couple of tight turns, although we did not experience any issues. Highly recommended.

  Fabulous location for the discerning traveler nestled in the Tuscan countryside . Outstanding food , service and luxury linens coupled with gracious European hospitality . Everything is homemade and outstanding .Mr. Protti is the benchmark for refinement and elegance. If you have a car , dont hesitate !!! Easy drives to Arezzo, ( fabulous town with really superb watermelon granita at Gelato Sunshine and underutilized , less crowded , quality museums ) Cortona and Florence . What are you waiting for ?
