A little Gem tucked away with stunning views

I stayed here with my wife and her parents Sept 1st - Sept 8th, It was exactly as we expected from a 3 star hotel. Rooms were clean and tidy, Booking in was simple and efficient and the Staff very pleasant and helpful (especially Gino). We stayed in room 122 which had a stunning Lake view. We used the hotel as a base to explore and travel around the lake. We stayed Half board. Breakfast was a good continental style with plenty of everything available. The evening meal was a 3 course meal and you had 3 options per course to choose from. The quality of the food was excellent. The only couple of moans i have is that there is no tea/coffee making facilities in the room (so bring your own kettle) and water is not provided with the evening meal (you can purchase a bottle for 2 euros)

Dirty, unhelpful, rude & YOU NEED A CAR

My friend and I booked this as a last minute deal on a different website for a very reasonable price. We tried to find out as much as we could about the area, but we couldnt find that much information at all, all we knew was that it would be a few hours on a couple of buses to get here from Milan Bergamo airport. We were wrong... 4 buses and 7 hours later, we arrived at the hotel. Which, is in the middle of nowhere about 100m up a mountain away from the lake. We soon came to realise that we would be stranded here for the entirety of our trip, something which the rude receptionist also made very clear to us when we checked in. When we were handed the keys to our apartment, we walked off with our suitcases and walked up one of the many steep flights of stairs to access it (unless you stay in a room, this place is NOT wheelchair friendly) and we were not too happy with what we walked in to. The floor looked dirty, there were stains all over the surfaces and dust/bugs everywhere. As tike went on, we could not BELIEVE how filthy this place truly is. None of the sheets/pillows/blankets are clean, there are no curtains up on any of the doors or windows so you get woken up to blazing sunshine early every day and people can just stroll past your bedroom doors and see right into it, and every inch of this apartment is covered in a hefty, thick layer of dirt and dust. Our clothes are covered in dust, our shoes and I have not stopped sneezing/having sore, watery eyes since I got here. I mean, just to make matters worse, we are literally trapped here and have nowhere to go except a tiny village a 10 minute walk away, in which they only have a few pizzerias and a vending machine with water in. We tried to get a taxi one of the days to a neighbouring village, that way we can actually do something and get away from this place, but we were quickly dismissed by the receptionist who told us there werent any and that wed have to stay here. All in all, the only good thing about this place is the view, but even that isnt enough to make this place bearable. Please do stop by to check out the view, but nothing more. If I had known before I came here, I wouldve paid 10000x more money and stayed somewhere worthwhile, like Malcesine or Riva Del Garda. Or even Gargnano. And I wouldve got a bloody car.

    Bad management

Bad management. We made a resevation for a room with lake view. It was approved, but some days later came the info that they do not have free rooms with lake view. We accepted the room with mountain view but then few days before our trip they cancelled our whole reservation, and told us that they do not have any free rooms. Thank you Hotel La Rotonda...

Not up to expectations, hostel quality 2 star hotel.

I have made a list below to describe best our experience at this place: - We arrived at midnight on a Saturday night to the disappointment of a small boxy room at the rear of the hotel with no view when I had requested a lake view. The room had one wardrobe so this was not big enough to unpack a weeks worth of clothes for two people. We had to leave our suitcases packed on the floor and spent the week tripping up over them. - I spent that night freezing on the hardest lowest bed I have ever experienced with a wafer thin pillow. My partner spent the first night down the gap between the two single beds. Everytime you move on the beds the bed moves with you!! -We also got woken up at 6am the following morning by children in the room next to us and cartoons playing which made us realise how THIN the walls really were and of what was yet to come. - Asked if a lake view and larger room was available or infact any quieter room with a double bed and got the simple response at reception of 'no' - asked the next day for extra blanket and pillows- this took 3 requests until we received some for our second evening - Breakfast was very basic, and much more catered for the european cuisine. They did boiled eggs but no toast so I was left with pastries for the week. - Every night we stayed there we experienced different wake up calls during the night which include ; loud snoring/ germans arguing/ people showering at 1am/ children screaming/ furniture being moved around at 3am!!! - Room and bathroom had radiators but heating was not on in the hotel so after a rainy day and showering with flannels there was no way of drying our clothes etc properly. - The blanket that was provided was a thin wool one and then just had summer sheets so I had to wear 2 items of normal clothing at night all week (it was around 12 degrees so should of had a thicker duvet in my opinion) - Before anyone says or thinks 'do your research' we booked this as an alternative 4 days prior due to the thomas cook saga (we were supposed to be going to Santorini). When I saw what I had paid on the break down from the package company when we were there I was really annoyed at what we had paid for the hotel for out of season rates at a very basic uncomfortable hostel style hotel. - WIFI didn't work in rooms or reception.. - This hotel ended up just being a base for us to travel around Lake Garda but we were hoping for a nicer room & balcony to spend a little time reading books, relax etc there but this was not the case, we left a night early and booked an air b and b for our last night so we could have some proper rest and comfort. We both came down with colds at this point and we believe it is from the cold, damp dark room we stayed in. WARNING TO OTHERS NOT TO BOOK, there must be better hotels for similar prices in Lake Garda as there is 100's around or pay a bit more for a 4/5 star with decent rooms! We have learnt our lesson. P.s we tried not to let this dampen our week and we still had a wonderful time exploring and appreciating the beauty Lake Garda had to offer.
