  West is Best at this Residence Inn

  Second time I have stayed here and first time I have left a review. Both times had a great stay and have had no complaints. Really like the option of getting a 2 bedroom suite here. Costs a bit extra but can be worth it if you have kids. Hotel is located on the far west side of the Cleveland suburbs and just off I-90. Easy to get downtown if no traffic and weather is good (20 minutes). Probably not so easy during rush hour. West side of Cleveland can get considerably less snow than East Side due to the way lake effect snow forms. Because it is so far West, only a fifty minute drive to Cedar Point. Nice breakfast/lobby area. Breakfast attendant was very helpful and friendly the morning we were there. Not a ton of food options off this exit but there a lot of restaurants within a five mile radius. Meijer store located across the freeway.

  Many good features, with some not so good ones.

  We needed to stay in town two weekends in a row. I chose this Residence Inn for the location, and for the 2 bed, 2 bathroom set up. The first time we had a king room and a queen room. One of my sons slept on the sofa bed. The second time we had the 1 king and 2 queen room, so the boys shared the bedroom. The 1 queen room was very small. The sofa bed was ok. We had to ask for sheets for it. They were not in the room. The king room has the bathroom attached and an open shower. The other bedroom has the bathroom off a little hall and a shower/tub combo. I was very surprised to find the 2 queen bedroom had no dresser! Not even drawers for clothes in the table between the beds. We had to use the chest of drawers in the living area under the tv. One thing I noticed right away was the very poor quality of the toilet paper, tissues and paper towels. At least they still have the Paul Mitchell hair products, which was the only name brand I saw in the room. The dish soap in the kitchen was also watery and cheap. A real disappointment for a Marriott hotel. Or maybe this has something to do with the Bonvoy brand. I really dont know, but in the past I have stayed at other Residence Inns and have experienced higher quality than at this location. The sheets and pillowcases were not soft. I didnt like the bed pillows at all, and brought my own pillow for our second stay. As others have noted in the reviews dating back to 2016, the flashing light in the room was very annoying!! I had to cover my eyes in order to avoid being woken up by it. It doesnt appear this will change, since customers have told Residence Inn over and over that they dont like it. For a newer hotel, some of these issues are very disappointing. There was also a lack of towel bars in the bathroom and too few hooks. Poor lighting in the kitchen and living area. A lack of outlets throughout the rooms. Outlets in the bedroom were grouped in one area behind the bedside tables. During our second stay, we found the charging cord missing from the back of the radio/telephone by the king bed. Someone needs to notice when things are missing from the room and replace them for the next guest. Lydia at the front desk was wonderful. She checked us in on our first visit, and checked on us by text after we got to our room, and the next day. She was very engaged and helpful. I saw her helping in the breakfast area as well one day. She was very professional. Another desk employee was not as engaged and professional. Im not sure of her name, as she had no name tag. She was helpful, but offered no smile and little eye contact. She checked us in on our second visit, and did not send any follow up texts to me, as Lydia did the week before. The free breakfast was good and plentiful. Hot and cold items were offered. The 2 ladies putting out the food and cleaning up were very friendly and kept busy. The coffee was good. The eating area has mostly small tables with 2 or 3 chairs, so its a challenge when you have 4 or more people. My son and husband used the pool and the hot tub one day. They enjoyed it. There is a lot of free parking. If an event is going on at the event center, you will not find a parking spot up front. It gets very crowded. I feel this hotel could be so much more than it is. It just seems like they did a lot of things on the cheap. If thats what Im looking for, which Im not, I would go to a lower end hotel or motel. When paying $200 or more a night, I expect better. The only real draw for me to return to this hotel would be for the 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, but 2 rooms at a Hilton may prove to be a better choice for the same or even less money. This is not a bad place to stay, but does not measure up to other Residence Inns I have been to in other states.

  Very disappointing trip.

  I have stayed at this location many times, this is the first time that I was let down. I understand they had to make changes to keep us all safe but there was no discount for the items they eliminated. Hot Breakfast, no pool, no housekeeping services, no afternoon cookie on weekends. The grab and go breakfast could have easily been expanded to include more items and still be safe. Was surprised to find out the outside door locks were broken, really a safety items to leave doors unlocked. Anita and Dave as always gave us great service at the front desk. I always recommend this hotel, but will have to really think before I book another trip here.

  Got the job done

  Just a one night stay as a quick work trip brought us to Avon. The hotel itself is very clean and new. The rooms are large and the staff seemed very friendly. I still don't know how, in this day and age, a hotel room doesn't have a single USB receptacle. Whether they are in the wall or adapters, I usually don't travel with plugs anymore. The workout room, for being new, had some challenges with the equipment. Some good calibration would serve them well. Besides some small complaints, the hotel was clean and the room was large. I would surely stay here again.

  Clean and Safe

  We often stay here as it is near family. We like the larger rooms--all have a full size kitchen. Beds are comfortable. While a number of amenities are different due to COVID, we appreciated the hand sanitizer on each floor. The hot breakfast was appreciated. Items were grab and go and individually wrapped. WiFi was good.
