  This property is showing some wear and tear. I have no major complaints as my room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. It seems like a very adequate place for an extended stay or a short stay with a family. It is conveniently located for most of the activities that bring people to Iowa City/Coralville.

  Be Careful choosing this hotel

  I get it....since COVID hit our country things are different and especially if you are traveling this summer. HOWEVER....this hotel has sunken to a new level. No breakfast is offered other than a bag with 2 pieces of rotten fruit, and a muffin. Thats it. Room will not be cleaned unless you request it to be. Room had dusty furniture, stained pillow cases. This hotel offers nothing special.

  In the time of Covid, Residence Inn not so clean.

  In July 2020 I needed to book a few nights at the Residence Inn Coralville. I assumed cleaning standards would be higher than normal due to the Covid pandemic. I was wrong. The lobby looks good. It's only once you go past the lobby that you start to see issues. Once off the elevator I noticed the carpet was in good shape and walls. However, almost every door to rooms had dirt and/or marks on the paint. The doors and frames looked like they had not been painted in many years. It was in contrast to the carpet and walls. Once in the room it looked fine when not looking to close. I quickly noticed issues in the kitchen. I wanted to make some coffee. I noticed only decaf had been stocked (most likely caffeinated was not stocked). When I looked at the coffee pot I noticed it still had coffee and there was a mold spore already frothing in it. I looked at the dishes and some still had food stuck to them. Inside the dishwasher still had the last guests dishes waiting to be washed. This at any point in time is totally unacceptable especially in a pandemic. Handle on the dishwasher is missing the knob at the end of the handle. The bathroom had hairs on the floor and tub looks like it's not seen a scrub brush ever. The tub water leaks allow corrosion to develop on the drain. I did inform the front desk of my findings and they were apologetic and did offer me points to my rewards for the issues. I did not get additional housekeeping while here as I figured it would not be much better. For a pandemic there has been a lot of guest here which surprised me. Everyone seems to think the hall way is a good place to leave their trash. It can sit there until the next day. Breakfast is currently not what they claim. There is no hot breakfast only a sack with 2 granola bars, orange, water, and a muffin. They put out just enough. Other than the cleaning issues the room has been ok. The A/C unit makes a lot of noise when running which seems normal. The desk chair is worn and has little cushion and the tilt backpack is not working. My only other big issue is the lack of a room safe. This room should have some type of safe. In Iowa hotel keepers have very little liability for any valuables I believe its only up to $250 dollars. So the question would I stay here again? For a points stay yes. For out of pocket expense there are better options in this price range. I hope this helps others. Just for your info some of my nights were points and I did pay out of pocket for about 1 1/2.

  Safe Stop on the Drive Out West

  My husband and I chose the Residence Inn as a stop along our drive out west. Given that my husband is high risk, we take cleanliness very seriously in order to assure that he is safe. The room was clean, spacious, and quiet. There were definitely some minor wear and tear blemishes on the desk, but otherwise we felt that the room was just what we were looking for during our overnight stay. I can understand how past guests had an issue with the breakfast choices (compared to the normal hot breakfast), but we prepared for this and brought our own breakfast items. The rooms have a full kitchen so I would recommend that, during covid, people getting creative and bring their own bagels, pastries, etc. I would definitely consider staying that the hotel again on our next journey out west.

  Bad customer service

  We had a reservation for a night and had booked ahead of time. Found out that we would not need it which was Feb. 10th, so wife called and cancelled it. Low and behold, they never cancelled it. Few days later it came out of our bank account. My wife called and called and finally left a message on why they never got it cancelled. Never did get a call back. They called it a no show when it was their mistake. Going to get a hold of corporate next and see what will happen. I would not stay at this place being they have a horrible customer service and don't want to make things right. I give it an absolute 0 for a review.
