  Quaint and quiet visit

  I checked into this hotel on Halloween. It was the first snow of the season. Myisha, who operated the front desk, was very accommodating. Shes a very nice young lady. The hotel was very quiet when I checked in. I was upgraded to a one bedroom unit and I loved it. Very cozy room. And the hotel sits in the cut off Broadway in Merrillville IN. I highly recommend this hotel. I did t have one hiccup. Oh and breakfast is a part of the deal which is always nice

  Old and dumpy

  I stayed here many nights for business, but it was only out of necessity; I would not come back here if I had a choice. The staff are courteous, but the entire building is old and the rooms have a smell and the HVAC noise is very loud in some rooms. The housekeeping is very inconsistent. On some days it's OK but other days they would fail to replace an empty tissue box, fail to empty a trash can in the kitchen, fail to clean the table/desk surface, etc. The mattress was absolutely horrible. I would not be surprised if they told me that it's as old as the building. It was so uncomfortably soft and worn. The breakfast is just OK; they would have one kind of pastry and stale bagels and other bread items. They were using one-time use dishes and plastic silverware, which are not environmentally friendly. There were no recycle bins available anywhere, either. This was by far one of the worst Residence Inns I've stayed at.

  Comfortable, friendly

  We have stayed here several times a year when visiting family. Atmosphere is always warm, friendly and accommodating. All areas are clean and well cared for. Staff is knowledgeable and professional. We appreciate that we can always experience a high level of service.

  Not What a Residence Inn Should Be!!!!

  We stayed in this place for a couple weeks while waiting for our corporate apartment to be ready. First impression: linen and towels stacked up behind the front desk, which has a poorly constructed plastic shield in place (think...trashy). We arrived a bit late, and the first clerk (who was quite nice), put us in a HC room (without us asking). The room was filthy! There was some brown substance on the shower curtain, a blood stain on the bedsheet and some whitish substance on the sofa. It was late, so we had to stay there for the night (apparently, no other rooms available....meaning....clean). The next day, we moved to a regular room, after being questioned why we were in a HC room (again...didn't ask). This one was, at least, clean. My wife requested some sanitizer to spray the counters down, and was given a bottle of room odor remover! We found there was one cleaning person for the entire hotel, and discovered that cleanliness did not seem to be a priority at all. The halls were not particularly clean, and the exercise room did not have any cleaning supplies at all. Additionally, there was no camera to watch the exercise room, and my wife stopped using it because of a creepy guy who seemed to show up when she was there. The "store" at the front was bare shelves. All in all, it did NOT deserve to bear the Residence Inn label. We were thankful to leave. Do not stay here until it upgrades to what it should be!!!

  Regretting my stay

  My family and I booked 2 rooms at the residence inn in merrillville unfortunately we were charged different amounts for which our receipts were showed($100 difference), upon checkout I was assured that the money would be replaced upon checkout, to which it wasnt. Instead of my money being replaced I was debited an additional $184.00 for a deep cleaning fee. I called the hotel and was informed that the room was a a mess and would not be able to rent again for some days to come. I was told that there was cake stains in the carpet, I requested photos because I knew this not to be true because the cake was left whole because my guest didnt care for it. I was sent pictures but none of stains just of confetti and a small pile of garbage that had overrun the small garbage can provided. I was also sent photos of some confetti that we had requested a vacuum or broom to get up but told by Colleen that they could not provide it to the guest. A stay that shouldve cost only $325.00 ended up being nearly $600. This is at a time when money is tight and we were just trying to find an escape for our family to relax, it was far from relaxing, I wanted to cry after my visit here. I am attaching photos of what was sent to me explaining the big mess. I dont know why we were treated this way but can only assume the reasons why
