  Outdated and poorly located

  The hotel is somewhat outdated and old, but facilities do work. The was no smoking in the rooms, but the room smelled of tobacco. In a twin bed room there was very little closed space to unpack your luggage, but other than that the room was large enough for two people. The room had separate bathroom and toilet, water boiler and a TV, as well as a modern air conditioner. There is no WiFi network or internet connection available in the hotel. The breakfast at the hotel was a Japanese styled, but served in a very western way. The hotel has an onsen bath, free if you have a room. There's really nothing of interest close by to the hotel, but there is a supermarket a few blocks away as well as train stop to centre of Saku (the trains run only about once an hour, so check the schedule). The staff speaks very little or next to no English.

  Old hotel, but condition is very clean !! GREAT breakfast. Rooms are nothing special, but good size and clean. It is an Onsen (hot spring) hotel, so you can soak in a hot pool and relax too. Breakfast is VERY good in this hotel and attitude of staff is very good too. Plenty of restaurants and places to eat, not far from the hotel. 2 second hand shops 1-2 minutes from the hotel, so some good bargains and nice things to be found. We stayed there on Saturday night, there were many people staying there, including some foreigners. Very good deal, if you just want a place to stay, and nothing fancy. Only 15-20 minutes drive from Karuizawa, so this place is a good bargain, compare with the Karuizawa hotels. They have a store in the hotel with many good local products.

  Old but good location and good onsen

  Not many hotels in this area so it worked out for us to have a place to stay when we wanted to see the Nagano Balloon Festival. Not expensive. Didnt eat dinner there. Were told the Breakfast buffet was awesome but it was very very basic Japanese breakfast and I didnt see any of the local veggie treats we were supposed to have. Service is a bit old fashioned - they dont help travellers with luggage. Onsen is good, the water is pure.

  Chinese style old hotel but in good condition with good onsen and breakfast

  Outdated hotel but all conditions are in good order, room are quite large in Japan standard. Staffs are polite and very helpful. We arrived the hotel at ~22:15 after 1 day traveling and driving, the onsen are very good for relaxing and we borrowed the sealing tape and marker pens to pack my "Mount Fuji Diamond" to Hong Kong. Front Desk staff are very helpful. Hotel have a store in the hotel with many local products and fruits with cheap price. Breakfast are good and just only 20 minutes drive to Karuizawa, if you travel to Karuizwa with driving, it's good to stay here with good onsen, breakfast with price is much cheaper than in Karuizawa.
