  Numerous fixes ,attention to details and accurate description needed

  We are actually from the area and reserved the room for friends who could not come yet it was too late to get a refund so we were happy to stay. There are several reasons we initially selected this hotel. One of our favorite hotels was The Wallhouse in Walnut Creek. The same group purchased the Schoenbrunn Inn and from photos it appeared similar. It also has a lounge, The Pub, on property, a spa/pool and an affordable price point for off season. Unfortunately, since this group became affiliated via franchising with the Choice Hotel Intl corporation, we are continuously disappointed. This hotel, like the Wallhouse, is part of the Ascend Collection, which is the brand that targets the luxury traveler/boutique hotel travelers. If you are familiar with Marriott's Autograph line or IHG Intercontinental Brand, this is the market the Ascend Collection is to compete with. Choice Hotels other luxury brand is Cambria [Suites] Hotel. This brands do not achieve even 1/10th of the services and standards of any luxury or boutique hotel. The staff was pleasant, but really didn't go above and beyond. It was typical guest services. The room had been updated, but you can tell it has been done economically painting existing furnishings and fixtures. The bathroom is cramped with minimal counter space. Breakfast was a typical hotel continental breakfast. There were three hot dishes, eggs, sausage links, sausage gravy. There were also make your own waffles. I collected the ingredients to make Quaker instant oatmeal but there was NO MICROWAVE to cook it. The sweet rolls were typical store bought. The pool NEEDS SERIOUS ATTENTION. Positives: The pool is larger than a typical hotel pool, I loved the big windows seeing out to the street and snow, the presence of the sauna and jacuzzi and the vaulted wood ceiling. Needs Improvement: There's mildew and black mold or something on various walls, the chairs I believe were spray painted but the paint had come off of several and they were badly rusted (chairs and table need replaced, not salvaged, throw out) the sauna is dried out, the water bowl and ladle a severely encrusted with hard water build up and need a serious cleaning and deep oil, the entire pool needs painted, wood ceiling needs repaired and treated, some needs to be responsible for the cleaning as we saw two places were gum was in the grout and the chemicals need adjusted badly; we could only swim for 1.5 hours Friday night and Saturday morning because our eyes burned and were very red. My eyes are still tearing, burning and painful at 8pm tonight (Saturday) and my son cried Friday night and tonight because his burn. The lounge was nice; however, it is NOT a restaurant nor does it have an appetizer selection. The bar has a good range of alcoholic beverages. Kathy, the bartender, was very pleasant and understanding when my 6 yro kept "scaring" her and later threw a bit of a fit when he was told to stop trying to go behind the bar (which was embarrassing for me and unacceptable behavior). I had not eaten and planned on getting an appetizer. I really appreciated her honesty in telling me all that had was frozen pizza and chicken wings and to look at delivery options. There is ample seating and a jukebox. It is one of the nicest aspects of the hotel. Cleanliness is ok. The pillows are worn out or very economical. The ice bucket liners are too small for the bucket. My son shared that when he had to hold the toilet seat up because it would slam down if he didn't. Shower curtain was hygienic and good in room toiletries. There are only 2 fitness machines so it doesn't offer much as far as exercise. Wi fi is strong al, the business center is simply 2 desk top computers and printer. They do have information on all surrounding attractions and things to do throughout NEO. The market store is very well stocked and has things you need and nice frozen items. Rooms have a nice microwave and a dorm size, not a mini, fridge. There is also an iron and ironing board in the room, as well as a washer dryer center, ice machine and complimentary USA Today. I am not one who typically stays in average or mid tier hotels. The Ascend hotels in this area are far from luxury. They also are at a price point that is higher for such a hotel. We don't and won't be staying with this group again and unfortunately, I truly wish I could have cancelled because it was not at all worth 1/2 of what we paid ANDour eyes would not be in so much pain.

  Clean Warm Cozy

  We stay just one cold winter night. The room was clean and neat, however it did not have much personality. It was a Plain Jane type, but we were warm cozy in a very clean room for the night. The staff was there when we checked in and since we had no needs during the night we never saw anyone again. I would Stop here again, but not for more than a night.

  Will stay again

  first time staying here. Bed was very comfortable and it had great pillows. Front desk was very friendly. Nice breakfast. Nice selection of TV stations. Nice size pool. Close to many restaurants. Close to Amish country and other sites.

  Bad business in general

  My husband and I had Schoenbrunn Conference Center booked for our reception for our wedding back in Sept 2019. We signed a contract for their on site chef and for them to provide everything from the chairs, tables, plates, utensils, etc. Without us knowing or them making us aware, they broke our contract by getting rid of their Chef and bringing in an outside catering company, which would of cost us over $2,000 more than what we signed a contract for. We were only made aware when we called to check on a price on one of the food options, only to find out the chef was no longer there and they were bringing in an outside catering company. After what it seemed like months of going back and forth between schoenbrunn ( they had no idea who was in charge anymore since the director left, and were told different things by multiple people) and the outside catering company, because neither 2 business's knew exactly what was going on and it was a more a he said/she said ordeal. We asked them to refund our down payment since they broke our contract. NOT ONLY WERE THEY EXTREMELY rude, but forced us to file a small claim against them. We ended up winning our case against them, and here we are, almost 6 months later and we have still yet to hear a word from them to pay us back. We have called and emailed multiple times, but yet the lady who is in charge is NEVER AVAILABLE, nor has she even got back to us. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone

  Comfortable, Good Location

  The Schoenbrunn Inn was comfortable and pleasant, and conveniently located, both within New Philadelphia, near a number of restaurants and the Walmart, and in relation to the much more expensive Sugar Creek. Check in was efficient and courteous, and everything in our room was fine. We slept well, but not amazingly so, and got good value for our money.
