    Avoid 6th floor smoking rooms!!!

Unless you intend to smoke in the room ask at check in for a non-smoking room. We walked in to our initial room and...well...were overwhelmed with a smell of disgust. Not to think we are a couple of prudes, one of us smokes. And even he was overwhelmed by the nauseous smell pervading everything. We were (thankfully and politely) moved from 615 to 306. Of course in the process we sacrificed a double bed for a twin :-). The rooms are relatively small, that is relative to American budget hotel rooms but I imagine par for the course in Japan. The front desk staff are very polite and accommodating. They will agreeably call a taxi for you as quickly at six in the morning as two in the afternoon. Overall the hotel is run down, worn and smelly. Were it not for the gracious staff I would rate the hotel one dot. In fact, if TripAdvisor allowed I'd rate the staff five dots and the facilities one dot.

    Affordable

We were there for Shingen-ko festival and booked our accommodation too late. No choice but to book smoking rooms. As it was considered early spring, the AC only provided hot air. We had the windows opened throughout our 2 nights stay. The soundproofing was poor but it was an okay stay. Modified yukatas were provided. Given a choice, I would avoid smoking floors at all costs.
