    Not worth it

We booked and paid for two nights at this hotel online. For the price we paid, this establishment wasn't worth it. We were put in a tiny room (no. 205) that had no windows or natural light of any sort and the only ventilation was a small louvre that opened to an dark, enclosed square shaft. The bench provided just inside the door was at risk of falling apart, the toilet seat was loose, and the access to the shower cubicle was both low and narrow. On the positive side the room was clean, the service was pleasant and the breakfast provided was adequate. I feel the negatives outweighed the positives so much that we didn't stay for the second of the two nights we booked (and paid for). No refund was given. My advice would be to either make sure you know what you're getting here in advance or else look for something better.

    Bien ubicado y confortable

    Hotel from hell

Noisy cramped room with the toilet jammed against the wall. Busy main road outside and paper thin walls made for a very unpleasant night's sleep. No security in the room and only two power outlets, neither of which is by the bed. This was the only hotel available at short notice. It looks quaint in the pictures but they are deceiving. Avoid this hotel unless you like the constant sound of motor bikes and people making loud phone calls. If you do like these things then this is the hotel for you.

Stairways out of an Escher drawing.

Once you get past the lobby you will find yourself in an area that resembles an Escher drawing with stairs headed off in all directions. You will be climbing stairs since the breakfast room is conveniently located on the 4th floor of this non-elevator hotel. On the plus side, it is one of the cheapest places to stay in Petropolis and located within easy walking distance of the main sights. On the negative side, the my room had a fair amount of street noise and the internet signal was very weak. The wall had some stains, possibly from former guests swatting mosquitoes.

Worst hotel that I have ever stayed in

Online this hotel seems ok, but looks are deceiving. The entrance to the hotel is on the main road, with fast moving cars etc during the day and screaming motorbikes at night. The foyer is run down and tired. The room is disgusting, with a chair immediately behind the main door making entrance to the room difficult, especially with luggage. Quite evidently it is a single room, but with the added bed the space is filled with only about 30cm between the bed and the wall. Walking out of the bathroom means navigating around the bed. The bed was hard and at first I thought I was going to have trouble, but strangely I slept well, but I was dog-tired and didn't wake up with a sore back! The top quilt was stained with blood and other unidentified deposits. The sheets and pillow cases were clean and fresh. The bathroom was grubby and dated, the sink cracked and the toilet hard up against the shower wall, making it difficult to use!. The bidet looked dirty. The shower was grubby, the door didn't close, but the water pressure was great with plenty of hot water. Conversations could be heard from other rooms and from outside the room; this, with the motorbike noise, is wearing. There is free WiFi which is refreshing. The breakfast was minimal to say the least, nothing wrong with this, but if you're expecting cereals, bacon, toast etc. then you're out of lick. I was due to stay one week, but in the end only managed 8 hours.
