    A total disappointment

I went there very late with my family on that day,and we went inside this hotel at first we think that it is quite traditional. After we checked out,we found out that theres no lifts, only stairs, because all the staff were elderly, and they carry all our heavy luggages and climb up flights of stairs, when the staff reach up the room, they were exhausted and because we are visitors,so we may not know how to speak Japanese so when we said English to the staff, they didnt know what were we saying so we tried to point the objects and tell them, they also didnt know what are we saying. From this time we know there is a serious language barrier between us and the staffs. Next,we hurried to change our clothes into yukata, then when we go out of the small room, the dinner is prepared,I think it is too hurry and theres no time for us to look at the facilities. The food was not what I expected, but some dishes were yummy. After dinner,we want to watch the television, but the television said it cannot support the channel so,we called up the front desk to ask someone to fix the television for us.A while later,a staff came up and fix the television. After a while of resting,we came down to try out the Japanese spa,the spa indoors were hot enough, but when we go outside to try it out,we saw only two bathtubs and when we sit inside, the water was cold. The next day,we hurried and ate our breakfast it was okay, then we left our room and go for the check out counter. We think we would not come to this hotel again and we wont recommend our family and friends to come to this hotel.

    Visited November 2016

The year my mum and I visited, we had an unseasonally cold front come through early with a lot of snow, halting all trains up the mountain. We were stuck in Odawara along with the local population, long lines at the taxi and bus ramps. Very luckily for us, the lovely girls at the information booth was able to contact our accommodation and they specially sent down a car to come collect us. They had limited English but we managed to communicate. They were very welcoming and showed us to our room with a little enclosed sitting area looking out to the snow covered hills. The told us dinner would be ready soon, so we relaxed with a pot of tea and they brought in number upon number of traditional dishes for our feast. After dinner, they quickly cleared the dishes and set up our futons for the night. We were lucky and found we had the onsen to ourselves. It was just what we needed after such a busy day. Bonus - it started snowing as we sat in the outdoor tubs! Yes, the place has no elevators. Yes, it is dated and worn. Yes, they don't speak English. But it is run by some lovely people, it's clean, affordable and is a perfect local Japanese experience.

    Amazing experience

I stayed here for one night with my mother. We checked in around 2:30 and didn't leave this place until check out next day at 10am. The man at the front desk was very nice. The girl assigned to our room was so sweet. I thought all the staff were great. The onsen tubs were the highlight. Fortunately when we were there there were almost no other people so we hung out in the outside tubs the whole time. There are 2 outside tubs for one person each or you can fit 2 in one of them and then there's an indoor bigger pool that you can soak in. We loved it with the views. The dinner was amazing and so was the breakfast. So many yummy treats to try. It was a lot of food and very beautifully presented. The beds were comfortable and we slept so good. The only thing I didn't like was that the room smelled a little bit like smoke. I guess they allow guests to smoke in the rooms, so for non smokers it's not the best. But otherwise everything was just perfect and we will definitely be back!
