Excellent hotel. This is a brand new hotel this year. It is certainly trying to cater for the international traveller. The rooms are a good size, equipped with Internet cable and even a charger for iPhone and other devices. They are comfortably and tastefully furnished. For some reason, modern Japanese hotels are moving to the concept of 2nd floor receptions. Probably to utilize 1st floor retail space. It means however, that the elevator always stops at the 2nd floor whether going up or down. If you're in and out all day, it's irritating. Three laundry facilities with one machine that both washes and dries. Inconveniently, once the dryer has started, you can't open the door. This extends the time spent. Breakfast included. Service excellent from friendly staff.i would definitely stay here.

an nice hotelI was here for several days. It is Shizutetsu North Hotel (averagely better than the south one as far as I heard). The room is average size (Japanese average hotel size = comparingly small). It was pretty clean, and the hotel employers are nice and friendly. They gaveus a bottle of water daily!

Clean, basic and near ShinkansenThis is a no frills hotel with a clean albeit small size room, with all the usual amenities. The staff are friendly and tried to accommodate our requests. There is a bar area on the ground floor, as well as a smallish restaurant/coffee shop where breakfast is served. There is free water in the room, and bath salts are available at the front desk. The location of this hotel is just across the road from the train station, and is accessible via an underground walkway, as there is no crossing at street level from the station to the hotel. There is are 2 supermarkets in the station Parche which closes late, that offer good quality food. Fresh food prices are discounted by upto 75% near to closing time. There is a convenience store next to the hotel, which is quite handy, if the hotel vending machine doesn't stock what you like. Pro Near station Shopping facilities nearby Clean room Laundry facilities Free Wifi Polite staff Con Breakfast limited to 2 choices with only 1 refill

Too many smoking roomsI went to Shizuoka for a conference, and like Yamagata earlier this year, had to settle for the only available room. Despite being a non-smoker, this meant booking a Smoking room, as I was travelling at a time of high demand. I won't make this mistake again. I assumed the rooms would be clean and if I opened the window the third-hand smoke would not bother me. I was wrong. Opening the window helped, but the mattress absolutely reeked of smoke. They have an air filter machine, but I still woke up with my nose bunged up and feeling like I had spent hours in a fuggy jazz club. As for the hotel itself, the location is ekimae and so very convenient. The reception staff are polite and helpful. Slightly bizarre point is that even when I spoke good Japanese to them, they replied in broken English. The size of the room was fine, and the shower worked well. Breakfast is a set meal, no choice, so I had my toast, croissant and salad, and left the boiled egg (I prefer scrambled in the morning). They have a slightly stiff and awkward breakfast bar and seating area. In sum, an OK hotel if you get a non-smoking room. But why do hotels in Japan over-cater to smokers? The fact that only smoking rooms are left should tell them they need to reduce the number of smoking. Or, even better, do away with them all together.

All the comfort you need in a very convenient locationI stayed there for a business trip. My room was comfortable room and offered all the desired amenities. The location next to the station is very convenient and at walking distance from lots of food options.
