  Sunrise spot

  Rooom was basic but clean.Breakfast and dinner were just so so.Jungles around was good for birding. A big rock behind the lodge is a sunrise spot which has a great view the sun rises from the famous lion rock...

  absolutely stunning sunrise views!

  we loved this place! hiked up the little rock behind the hotel for a stunning sunrise accompanied by the hotel dog that showed us the way. Lovely breakfast, good hospitality. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Clean rooms for an amazingly low price.

  Great base for Lion Rock & Sunset...but bring mosquito net

  We booked via booking.com for two nights but ended up leaving after one. The Good: Nice family, located a fair way out of town, clean, amazing sunset from the rock at the back of the property, cool pet dog, basic wooden rooms. Best bit is that it is a 10 minute walk to Lion Rock entrance. The Bad: Not great communication, no mosquito screen on the window and no mosquito net - so it was a painful and annoying broken sleep. Also the sheet on the bed was a tiny little thing that wasn't enough for even one person so hiding from the mosquitoes was even harder. The water also stopped for a few hours but came back. Limited food - breakfast was average. The fact that it is so far from anything else is also a negative as no snacks or drinks available - but just come prepared for this. We didn't bother explaining why we left, just decided to go with a better option closer to town, however did pay for the full two nights despite leaving after one. They then cancelled our booking completely on booking.com so cannot review it there...which is odd.

  Modesto alojamiento con vistas.

  La ubicación no es buena ya que estás a mínimo 2km de todo por carreteras muy oscuras que te obligan si o si a tomar un tuk tuk, la cama bastante incómoda y sin sabana superior para taparte y el baño muy simple. Es verdad que es muy barato. Lo unico bueno son las vistas y que el personal es amable. El perrito es muy simpatico pero cuando ladra a las 4:00am no te lo parece.

  TERRIBLE PLACE!!! Avoid at all costs. Worst experience I had in Sri Lanka

  I booked this place at original price of $13 per night. Later I had to change dates and the price changed to $30 per night for exactly the same room. I politely talked to the owners telling them this is not a fair price for this standard but once they smelled the bigger money it was impossible to talk to their senses. They were angry and pushy for me to pay this ridiculous price so I got scarred and payed feeling scammed and tricked the worst way. Ugh.. Where do I start? The room was dirty, smelly, small and dark. The bathroom was really disgusting and full of mold. AC didnt work the first night. Hot water didnt work at all. Plugs didnt work so I couldnt charge anything in the room. There was no mosquito nets. The sheet to cover was so small I couldnt fit so I dont know how 2 ppl could possibly use it. Breakfast consisted of one fried egg,dry toasts and bananas - the worst I had in Sri Lanka so far. Dinner for 900 lkr was fried rice with carrot, egg and ketchup on the side (?!) and this place is too far away from other restaurants so you are forced to eat there. Im traveling by myself and I just felt super uncomfortable there. I was the only guest staying (I wonder why...) and they didnt speak to me at all. They were basically ignoring me so I felt super unwelcome. In the evenings I didnt know what to do with myself as the only place you can stay in common area was full of bats after the sunset so I just run and hide in that creepy room. If it was cheap I would probably leave and forget but all this.. for $30?! I stayed in a way nicer places in Sri Lanka for $8. Yeah the sunset spot is beautiful and the dog is very nice (the only nice being there) but PLEASE do yourself a favor, pay the owner to see the sunset or sunrise and just stay somewhere else.
