  Buen hotel para estar en The Cotswolds

  Hemos estado en varias ocasiones en este hotel que esta en el centro de Tetbury -un hermoso pueblo de la campiña inglesa- y puedo afirmar que es una buena opción para visitar la zona. Se trata de un hotel muy acogedor, con buen servicio y precios módicos (si es que hay algo aprecios módicos en £). La ubicación dentro de Tetbury es inmejorable y ademas es el centris social del pueblo ya que aunque todo el pueblo este en silencio, en el Snooty Fox siempre hay gente. Lo recomiendo sin olvidar de que se trata de un hotel de varios siglos con lo que esto implica.

  The Snooty Fox at Tetbury

  Stayed 1 night, the staff were excellent, friendly attentive and professional although they were up against it because of Covid restrictions, the bar is great lovely atmosphere and great selection of wines and beers, room clean and tidy but warped floor made sleeping a chore and both of us left with bad backs, I know its character and a little charming but it felt like sleeping in a bowl even personal items fell off the bedside table as theres quite a lean, stayed in standard room as no others were available unfortunately, we had evening meal which was good but not exciting, the full English breakfast on the other hand was fantastic , we would stay here again but in a different room

  2 night stay

  We have come back from a lovely 2 night stay in Snooty Fox Tetbury. The staff were really lovely and helpful on what to do in the area. Our room was no 7 quirky on 2 levels to the chip shop side. We were worried about road noise but everything went quiet after 10pm. The room and hotel are very warm. The bathroom shower took a bit of getting used to. On arrival we had a cream tea which was tasty. Dinner on 2 nights was the star. Bistro quality food. We had the mushrooms on toast, chilli and tomato soup, chicken breast special, veggie sausages with mash and onion gravy, lemon posset and cheese board one night. Second night the duck special which was hubby's highlight and the linguine. Breakfast was pre ordered the night before and it was all superb. Great base to go and explore the arboretum and Slimbridge.

  Black burger buns...?

  I really dont know what the effect of the black burger bun is meant to be, but it looked like a soggy napkin wrapped round some meat. Very strange choice, and really should have been mentioned on the menu so that I could have ordered something that actually looked like food. Also, service is woeful. On the plus side, the ham egg and chips is a winner.

  Ok to worse

  So this weekend I took my partner away for his birthday. I had booked the snooty fox for the weekend as it looked smart and quirky. Check in was easy though parking was a nightmare! You have to park about a 5 minute walk away and pay by 8 oclock every morning so if you dont have a phone which holds the app you have to get up early and go and walk to put the ticket on. I paid for an upgrade to a superior room and very mixed review. The bathroom was nice, the jucuzzi bath was a nice touch and the water pressure was fab! The room was a nice size but very tired. The paint was falling off the walls, the knobs on the taps were broken and the bed was so creaky your couldnt roll over with feeling like it was going to collapse! Very disappointed not worth the money at all! The plus side was breakfast! 5 stars couldnt fault it! The pouched eggs were to die for and the little jams were a cute touch. On the second night we had a meal there and I have never felt so belittled in all my life! So we come downstairs and 8 and have to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Next to the waiting area was a lounge where some older gentlemen were sat. Now I know its not the snotty foxs fault, however, they made me feel so uncomfortable that I asked my partner to block my view from them. They even kept asking for me to sit by them. The 10 minute wait to be seated only made it worse. When we sat down it was a nice enough table and the waiter seemed nice enough. Upon ordering the food I asked for my steak to be rare. Now I know that a ribeye should be served medium-medium/rare I have eaten steaks all over the world and am not stupid to it. However, I still prefer it rare. When I ordered it the waiters look of horror was like I asked for it to be served on his naked body it was so over dramatic! He then told me its best medium-medium/rare to which I explained I know but I would still prefer it rare personal preference. He then told me again to which I AGAIN said no thank you Ill have it rare. He then said you dont understand... then continued to explain to me how a steak works like I was stupid. He talked down to me and made me feel so uncomfortable and belittled! After a good 5 minutes of this I gave in and said fine Ill have it medium/rare and guess what...it was too well done for me. The steak was smothered in pepper I had to scrap it off and there was no blood it was awful! It put a really sour taste in our mouths unfortunately. Will not be recommending.
