  Know the fire exits

  Space Inn Xinyi is almost entirely located at the basement with only the reception lobby and guest common areas on ground level. Always mindful of safety, Ive looked at fire exits and found three. The first one is through the main doors where the reception is located. The other one is inside the mens common toilet & bath (see photo) located in one of the toilet stalls. Inside has a ladder to go up an opening on the ceiling that presumably leads to an exit outside the building. The last one is inside the womens area. SIX is a 5-10 minute walk from Xinyi Anhe MRT station. The buildings leading to hostel does not cover the whole length of the walk so be prepared to get wet in case of heavy rain (I visited in March). The route is relatively lit so walking is safe although its the area is almost deserted on weekday evenings by 9pm. Taipei is ranked one of the safest cities in the world by The Economist so youre going to be fine. You get what you pay for as its a no-frills hostel. They offer a small-ish bunk bed, a comfortable warmer blanket (good sleep on it), a huge common toilet(but really clean and has no lingering toilet smell), and security cards to enter the hostel and your rooms. The mens dorm rooms with 6 bunk beds does not have enough space to manoeuvre except for opening your electronically operated storage spaces. There are two on one side immediately beside your bed with bottom bunk beds get the lower area. The space in your storage space fits a cabin size checked-in luggage so youll have trouble fitting anything larger than that size. Ive actually seen guys use the common hallway outside their rooms to arrange their stuff. In a case of bad luck, three of the four nights I was in my room was with a snorer so obnoxiously loud that barely anyone can sleep. A couple of the men in my room bought ear plugs to block off the noise. So count your blessings if you get relatively quiet roommates (or even soft snoring). If this bothers you or youre a light sleeper (as almost always theres snoring in a dorm room), then hostels are not for you. Check-in time is strictly 3pm but you can drop your luggage at their lobby if you arrive early. Alternatively, if you already decided to maximise your morning with activities but you feel that SIX out of the way from your tourist spot destination, Taipei Main Station has hourly rental lockers to accommodate even the biggest luggage. Tip: - Request for bottom bunk bed. Itll give you space to sort out your things near your bed - Request that your bottom bunk bed is away from the door if the banging of the electronic doors bother you

  The Inn is so nice and their staff is so kind, helpful and very approachable. The room is very clean. The CR and the lobby are also clean. They provide free coffee, free hot or cold water and free wifi. I gave them 9.9% out of 10%. God bless to all of them who accommodate us during our 5days of stay.

  Horrible service, male housekeeper will enter the room before check-out time without permission, totally ignore privacy and safety, when the customer report issues, they even blame the client and post it online, it's very scary. BTW, they delete all critical comments to remain their stars/points, NOT recommend!!! ^^

  Very helpful staff! Amazing

  I was very unlucky and lost my passport at the airport, but the staff at space inn was very helpful and I couldn't be more thankfull. The hostel itself is pretty good and is located at a really good location, I think I was the only 'foreigner' during my stay. The Staff was fluent in English. You will never hear me say s bad thing about Space inn. This turned out to be a perfect 10.
