What is this mobile key you speak of?Once again, Marriott Bonvoy says I'm eligible for a mobile key, and they will send an alert when it's ready. I must be misreading this since I keep thinking it's for the room I will be staying in that evening. But I checked in on the mobile app anyway, so the hotel would be alerted to when I was expecting to arrive (7pm). Arrived around 8pm, checked in. Keys were not ready, needed to see my ID and credit card, no "thank you for being a Bonvoy member". Polite and normal check in, just like any hotel that I didn't belong to the rewards program and walked in off the street asking for a room instead of pre-check-in on your app. Oh, and no mobile key ever showed up in my app. Room was suitable, clean, comfortable. Breakfast consistent with expectations for the brand. No problems with the stay. Weird that the 2 light switches at the door seemed to affect exactly the same lights. If you drive to get here, be careful when approaching the property. You need to go through the roundabout and the entrance is near the back of the property, as if you were making a left turn behind the building. Then drive through parking lot to reception area at front of building.

Not as clean as one would expectMy review of this hotel is a mixed bag. On the upside, the room was very spacious and bright. There with two comfy queen beds and a seating area separated by a half wall. The bathroom was quite large and the AC worked very well. The hotel is across the street from a very large, walkable park with gardens and a small lake. It was very pleasant to walk around the lake during the early morning. They served breakfast (using a server to dole out food) and coffee. On the downside, the bathroom door was a pocket door with a smoked glass cover which let light come through at night and a family member inadvertently woke up us up while using it. Others have noted the presence of stains on the carpet and furniture. We found the same. In fact there were quite a lot of dark stains on the carpet as well as crumbs left from a previous guest. The thing that will prevent me from returning is how the staff handled the issue of masks and social distancing. When I walked into the lobby, the front desk agent had her mask hanging under her chin. She never adjusted her mask to cover her mouth and nose. She also insisted on taking my drivers license and credit card in her hands to examine them even though I had checked in previously using the app and other Marriott properties have simply asked me to hold out my license so they could read it. Additionally, there was a male guest without any mask standing right next to the desk sign that said guests were required to wear masks; no social distancing on his part. The front desk agent acknowledged him waiting there, but did not address the mask issue. I realize that some people feel differently about wearing masks, but when Marriott has a stated policy of requiring all to wear masks, their staff need to enforce that policy for themselves and guests because their guests rely on this to happen. Given the crumbs on the floor .and this experience when I checked in, I can't recommend what would otherwise be a fairly nice property

Exceptionally cleanThis was our first venture out and hotel stay since March. Covid precautions we every where, from check in to bar to breakfast. Our room was exceptional and all staff friendly and helpful. Location can't be beat.

Excellent StaffThis is most likely the nicest hotel in the immediate surrounding cities. Seemed a tad rundown and dirty, but the staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Our sheets seemed almost dirty. Pillows flat from obvious overuse. Complimentary breakfast was good with decent options, given the Covid era. Lobby atmosphere was lively and inviting. Not their fault, but located on a road with lot of construction. But it is on the main drag with many restaurants and stores within a couple of miles.

Just like all of the newer Springhill Suites - this one is just the sameI've stayed in a few of these for business and they all use the same blueprints. I could almost be dropped into one blindfolded and not be able to tell you where I am. That's a good and bad thing depending on your perspective. Reliable accommodations with limited frills is perfectly fine for a business trip however. The room has a decent amount of desk space with good lighting and a nice size TV. Good internet, and an ok breakfast. It was nice to actually have a breakfast with so many places simply shutting it down due to COVID. The room & bathroom were clean and well stocked. I have two minor nits about my room. 1) The bedside clock radio looked old and the alarm wouldn't wake anyone but the lightest sleeper. Good thing I had a wake-up call as a back-up, and 2) It seemed to take forever to get hot water and I had to leave it on the absolute hottest setting in order to have warm water during my entire 7 minute shower. The hotel wasn't that full to have an issue with the water. All in all, I would stay here again as it was close to the business I needed to see on this trip. I might ask for a room closer to the water heater next time however.
