A good onsen with a good view

Located on a hill top where a medieval castle once stood. The view from a room & onsen is very good. Good or bad this ryokan (Japanese style hotel) is there for dozens of years and its exterior & interior are rather dated, but those who enjoy old things may like the style. Note that old doesn't neccesarily means dirty. We were probably (not sure though) upgraded to one of the bigger room with a grand view of the Iida city. The room was clean and spacious. The bath was even better than anything else. Good quality of onsen, spacious baths & a grand view of the city & mountains.

So Japanese - so beautiful -

Interesting that the average traveller clocks 17 countries. Well not counting the "stop overs" but actually WORKED in I think comes to 35 countries... over 45 years - impossible to remember all the hotels I have been to... Now, I do not travel 6 month a year - at 73 I am back in my lovely home country studying and having a great time. But I can ad one more review - I do remember VIVIDLY a beautiful Hot-Bath hotel in Iida, Japan... called Sangitei... traditional and modern blended superbly - incredible views from the hot-baths - towards the mountains - food of course Japanese - the best.... Japanese Garden... it has it all and been in the family 6 generations.... you just don't get it any better . ml bente

    Truly a Traditional Japanese Experience

I have stayed in this wonderful Ryokan for four days and I have nothing but good words from their service, food and of course authentic traditional Japanese experience. The view from the onsen was really spectacular because the hotel is situated up the hill where you can see the wonderful city of Iida. I had a very good and comfortable sleep because the room where I stayed was warm, clean and relaxing. Their restaurant also serves authentic Japanese dishes, all very sumptous and fresh. You can also opt for cheaper meals at their eatery which also serves very delicious Japanese bento meals. The strategic location of the hotel is a plus because it is easily accesible to nearby tourist spots such as museums, the zoo and ski resorts. The staff are also friendly and helpful to their guests need.
