    Pretty location but with issues

We visited 2 nights in august. Lovely setting with river windrush alongside. Plus points: friendly. lovely clean twin room small television. Great breakfasts. Minus points: very laid back attitude need more staff albeit young guy serving dinner on wed nights was very pleasant but running around a great deal thus we had to ask on few occasions items he forgot. (Bit "faulty towers scenario ") Not pub prices. So need more staff. Due to covid no indoor bar/lounge area in use. They erected a cover outside to have drinks bit scruffy looking not good when weather gets colder.no main reception too many hand written signs outside. Outside needs good clean/sweep .

    Terrible service

Booked a table for 5.30, expecting 'street food' + menu. Only burgers & pizzas until 6.30 as kitchen staff had decided they needed a break. Waited 90 minutes for 3 pizzas & 1 burger, whilst watching a young boy make up the pizza boxes whilst picking his nose & scratching his bum....not great, especially in covid times... shocked!

    Lovely Stay in Traditional Pub.

Stayed in the Windrush Room, spotlessly clean with great views of river and meadow. Power shower was fantastic, with complementary tea and coffee in the room. Idyllic pond and garden situated next to the river Windrush which is well stocked with wild brown trout which was great fun also. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and food is cooked to a very high standard. Burford close by for site seeing and shops, with lots of walks and excursions also within the area. Lovely stay, will be definitely coming back.

A serene spot with a warm welcome

We spent 4 nights at this lovely pub just outside Burford in a quiet spot with a river running by. The host Paul and staff provided a warm welcome as did Chester the dog who took all the attention from the guests in his stride. The room was comfortable and spacious enough. I think that the room could have done with a bit of freshening up but it was generally good. The cooked breakfast was really good and set us up for a day's walking. We had dinner there all but one night and were happy with the good home cooked meals on offer. The pub was a well located to explore the Cotswolds from and Paul was a good source of information of places to visit. It's a friendly and comfortable place to stay and if you're patient you'll see the kingfishers in the river whilst you're having a drink.

    Absurd pricing

We noticed the Fox Inn whilst on a drive through various Cotswold towns and villages and decided that it looked like a nice place to stop for a drink given it had a riverside location. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon expecting the pub to be busy, followed the hand written signs directing us towards the outside bar and it was like a ghost town, nobody too be seen anywhere, silence. We found the makeshift outside bar and ordered two house wines, one white wine spritzer, one red wine, we were not asked what size we would like and were given a small 175mm red wine and small 175mm white wine spritzer topped up with half a pint of lemonade! I was shocked when the bar lady asked me for £14! To take the micky further the red wine was ice cold out of the fridge and both glasses were covered in dishwasher stains! There was literally no ambience or atmosphere outside or inside this pub, we briefly sat inside which I believe was the restaurant area.....grubby carpets, unpainted ceilings, wires hanging down, dirty walls etc. Safe to say we will never return to eat or drink here.
