    Great spot for Extended TDYs

The Oakwood Lexington is right across the street from the Oakwood Lansburgh, where I also stayed for several weeks on an extended TDY (government business trip). The best part is the location: right in the heart of Penn Quarter, so it's an easy walk to work in the Federal Triangle area and an even easier walk to fun, as it's just a block from the China Town restaurants and nightlife. The rooms and facilities are excellent, you get a fully furnished one or two bedroom apartment at the government lodging rate, which is an excellent value. The bathroom leaves a little to be desired, just very basic, nothing fancy. But overall a nice, clean, basic apartment with everything you need to make you feel at home, and not in a hotel room, which again is very nice for extended stays. Cleaning is once per week, which is all your really need (they even do your dishes). The gym downstairs is also very nice, lots of equipment, although the free weight area can be a little tight if other people are working out there. The staff at the front desk are super nice and helpful. And they are flexible with your stay, which is awesome if, like me, you have a fluid schedule. I had to leave much earlier than expected because of my overseas assignment and they let me out of the lease basically no questions asked, they just needed to see a copy of my travel orders. Overall, the Lansburgh's rooms and facilities across the street are nicer, especially since the Lansburgh has an indoor pool and steam room (which I love). My room at the Lansburgh was also a little nicer. So if given the choice between the two, I would opt for the Lansburgh, but only marginally so. One annoyance: they give you a fairly nice, modern flat panel TV, but don't offer you an HD TV package... am I really expected to watch TV in standard def? The humanity! Overall, you can't beat Oakwood properties for extended stays in DC. I would highly recommend them if you prefer not to live out of a hotel room for weeks on end.

Great location and amazing community: two hallmarks of the Oakwood Lexington

We as a family, couple and two daughters 15&20, stayed at Lexington 9th floor two-bed apartment for nine nights. We had no car in DC and had to rely mostly on either walk or Metro. The greatest advantage of our location was that all of us had places of our interest at walking distance. they included shopping centres, restaurants, smithsonian museums, theatres, cinemas and what not? The other thing that impressed us was the community there. We found people living there very friendly and peaceful. During our stay of nine days, we never came across any noise or other disturbance on part of our neighbors. We used to meet in lift or in the lobby where some them used to be accompanied with their pets. On arrival we found keys of the apartment in an envelope with a welcome note. The apartment had limited supplies of tea, coffee, dish washer, water bottle, detergent, soaps, shampoo and conditioner etc. It had full supply of kitchen and dining ware. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would like to live again there if we got another opportunity to do so
