  This B & B is one of the nicest I have stayed in. Room spotless, large & comfortable. Food lovely - dinner also provided on request - and hosts the perfect balance of friendly and helpful without being intrusive.

  Highlight of our summer

  Our stay here was one of the highlights of our summer. Pablo and John's B&B is more like a boutique hotel and definitely the best we have stayed in. The bedroom and bathroom were tastefully decorated and pristine. The garden provided a wonderful setting for breakfast during a heatwave. Our hosts showed us warm hospitality and we would love to have an opportunity to return. We felt safe here in Covid times. Suzanne & Daniel.

  Gorgeous Georgian house, and breakfasts beyond compare

  As the other reviews testify, the Lions is a magnificent Georgian house with exquisite furnishings and decorations. The hosts are charm personified, and they serve up some of the finest breakfasts imaginable. We stayed for a night, having deposited our son for his first year at university in Nottingham. After a long day, Pablo and John made us feel most welcome, and our room was amazingly comfortable and lovely in every way. Having breakfasted royally on some particularly fine sausages, among other delights, we spent the morning in Newark, walking by the river and admiring the castle ruins. The attractive town square felt like the Prague of Nottinghamshire. On the way home we stopped off at Rutland Water, which was beautiful, and also purloined some authentic Melton Mowbray pork pies, although we didnt eat these until we got back to London, as our Lions breakfasts kept us going for the whole day!

  Newark antiques trip

  What a joy to stay here! My husband and I booked in to this beautiful period property to attend Newark antiques fair. Pablo & John gave us a lovely warm welcome & made us feel very comfortable in their immaculate and beautiful home. Each morning we had a lovely breakfast, thoughtful prepared as I have food allergies which I know can be a real pain, but nothing was a problem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and very much look forward to returning when we can. Many thanks :)

  Absolutely outstanding

  We received a very warm welcome from our hosts to their wonderful B&B. Our stay was delightful. The house has the spacious and elegant proportions of its period and is beautifully furnished. It was very comfortable with a really great breakfast. We could not have asked for anything more.
