    Great stay in Denver

We stayed in the Diamond Suite, and it was a great choice for a COVID getaway. We loved the rooms baseball theme, The hotel did an excellent job with COVID protections during our stay. The room was nice and quiet for the most part. We loved the huge balcony for chilling in the evening. Parking is available in a parking garage just around the corner from the hotel entrance. There are several food options at the connected Dairy Block Market, which we were able to takeaway to our room. The hotel entrance was a little tricky to find at first, but other than that we had no complaints during our stay. Highly recommend

    Intrinsically cool

Im posting this review during crazy times, Covid , so it may not pertain during regular times . The hotel decor is really fun and thought out . Funky but comfortable and welcoming. The art work and aesthetics of the hotel is very pleasing and not stuffy . The bar area is a cool mix of South beach Miami meets the West. Our room was very spacious and the beds were comfy . However ,The Maven failed to communicate with me the day or two before we arrived that there is no room service or any dining in the hotel. I asked several front desk people about options and they were not very knowledgeable about places for pick up or outdoor dining . The staff seemed a bit inexperienced for a nice hotel . We realize that these are crazy unpredictable times with Covid , where rules change daily . The hotel is thankfully located in a great area where there is a Whole Foods , awesome Door Dash breakfast places and cute outdoor eating places . Union station is a block away and the Capitol is about a mile walk. If you are traveling to Denver during Covid , the Maven is very clean , masks are mandatory, hand sanitizer is everywhere, and the staff is vigilant about safety . We felt very safe here . Download the Door Dash of Grub hub app though if you stay here .

    Highly Disappointed

    - Upon arrival I was not given clear instructions for the garage/elevator. I was told where to find the garage but not that the elevator would only take me to the Dairy Block main floor and I needed to walk across the building to get to the hotel elevator. I ended up trying to go to the 3rd floor repeatedly from the garage elevator at which point a security guard questioned me. Embarassing. - When I asked front desk staff about room service I was told that they didn't have it but that I could order from UberEats and it would be delivered to my room. I asked specifically about the restaurants in the Dairy Block and the information communicated to me made it sound like there was some sort of partnership in which the restaurant or hotel staff would bring the food up since this suggestion was made when I asked about room service. Later in the evening when I ordered from UberEats it took quite some time because, as it turns out, I was using regular old UberEats and a driver came from somewhere else to the Dairy Block to pick up food from the Milk Market walk it across the building to the lobby of the hotel where he stood, unable to get in to the elevator. No-one from the front desk intervened until he called us to say we needed to come down to get the food. I asked him if he was near the front desk, he said yes. He only was able to get in to the elevator after he asked. So, due to poor communication and lack of attentiveness by front desk staff I effectively paid someone to walk food across the building for me -- had I known I could have done this myself. - I came specifically to this hotel to celebrate my birthday. I got this particular suite because I intended to have several friends over for a slumber party, and I wanted to be able to soak in a nice large tub. When Covid ruined my ability to have friends gather I attempted to get a smaller room but because I couldn't be guaranteed a room with a soaking tub I decided to keep this room. That was my choice. However, during a time when the hotel surely could not be at capacity, no attempts were made to try to make my stay memorable or to even pretend to give me good service. I was asked to call closer to my stay to inquire about check in times and for a smaller room with a large tub. I did that only to be told to call the day of. I did that, still no such guarantee could be made. Whatever. I know I don't deserve special treatment, but I was surprised by the lack of personable service or even attempts to make my stay special and accommodate my request. - So, I finally very excitedly make it to my room only to find that the stopper to the tub is broken. And the tub is really a run of the mill fiberglass or acrylic tub. And although it is round and wide it is no deeper than a regular tub. Particularly when it won't fill up all the way due to the broken stopper. Additionally, the supposedly legendary robes also had frayed sleeves. Not a huge deal, but for a place that charges what it does, and prides itself on service and luxury, I just was so disappointed. - I booked this hotel on a "Suite Deal" that included late/early check out and parking. I didn't realize that it would have been wise for me to print the details out at the time, I figured that a hotel would know what a deal entails. Despite this, when I called the first time to find out what check in time was exactly I was told they couldn't guarantee it. When I checked in I was told parking cost $25. Thinking I was wrong, I went ahead with it, and was told that when my husband arrived he too would have to pay another $25 for parking. When my husband arrived there was someone else at the desk who told him parking was complimentary. But when I checked out the next day I was again told that parking was still $25. Now that I know for sure something was amiss I let her know I had this deal and what it included......the person didn't believe me and looked somewhere in the computer for the deal and found it but "couldn't see what it included." Why does this hotel make deals it can't honor or keep track of consistently??? I made sure I was refunded the $25 I was charged. But received no apology, no "I'll notify management to fix this issue" no regret expressed at all. - Frustrated and disappointed with my stay, I am actually a little relieved to leave. But my parking pass will not work at the gate. Frustrated, I try in vain repeatedly to leave and cannot. So I march back up to the front desk and tell the person working there I can't get out -- and she again doesn't apologize or empathize at all. She just tells me she'll meet me down there. She tries and can't get it to open. So I sit there waiting while she goes to get someone. All told it took me about 20 minutes to get out of the parking garage, never receiving an apology or any sort of empathy or care. The one positive I can say is that I was allowed a crazy early check in and late checkout too. I really appreciated this......but what's the point of staying somewhere that doesn't make you feel cared about at all, let alone celebrating you on a special occasion. Not to mention, has poor and confusing communication with lackluster service. I will not be back.

    Location and Vibes are strong

Great spot! Loved the location and the style of the hotel, the art and design has a lot of effort into it and it shows. The room layouts are great and I was very satisfied with the accommodations for the price. I had to dock a few points from the review as during a 2 night stay we had engineering in our room twice for phone and toilet issues. The stay was kind and on top of things but never got the above and beyond vibes which you always hope for from a hip hotel like this. Without the room issues woulda been 5 stars. Would try it again.

    Anniversary Weekend

My husband and I decided to have a staycation for our 6 year wedding anniversary. We had stayed at the hotel previously and love the decor, the vibe and the location. Upon checkin, we were told they had upgraded our room for our anniversary. When we entered our gorgeous suite, there was a personal note welcoming us as well as a few in room snacks. We had the best time. Grateful for the staff and the thoughtfulness that went into our weekend.
