Excellent hotel and experienceGreat experience at this luxury hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful comfortable rooms and amenities. Lots of pools and other places for relaxation. Excellent spa (heard the messages were amazing) and new fitness center although floors are bit slippery and weight benches slide when lifting. Terrific newly updated golf course but very spread out and with lots of driving. Wonderful local scenery including walking distance to Camelback Mountain. Facility is very large and spread out with limited signage. Very hard to navigate effectively. Checked in with large group for a Sales Meeting and had to wait ~45 minutes to check in at back (not main lobby) desk. Hotel should have known we were coming and made arrangements for faster check-in.

Fantastic stay, from check-in to check-outWe love the Phoenician Residences! Over the last few years, it has become an annual destination for our family -- we look forward to escaping the cold winter weather for a week to spend thawing out at this resort. Over the years, we've stayed at the Phoenician, the Canyon Suites, and this year decided to try out the Phoenician Residences. Without a doubt: we will return! What we loved: (1) Staff. other than the check-in/check-out staff, which I've always found a bit wooden, we love the team at the Phoenician. From the concierge desk, to the kids club, to the restaurant staff, to the housekeeping team - they could not have been more lovely. Two examples: the concierge made a fantastic dinner recommendation nearby for a date night. At the restaurant, we were treated like royalty, including a couple of comp'd dishes and the manager swinging by to greet us. Housekeeping consistently kept attention to detail, from folding our PJs to leaving an extra shampoo when they realized we had used the full bottle one day. (2) Quality of the space. From the furniture to the beds to the outdoor grill, the Residences lived up to their name. Our family fully enjoyed having our own space with two bedrooms. One evening we even grilled out and enjoyed the patio. (3) Service recovery. The A/C in our unit went kaput one evening. It was past the kids bedtime. The temperature was ticking up 78... 79 ... 81 ... An engineer hustled over. He worked his tail off to figure it out, up and down from the roof. He kept us super well informed. After an hour of tinkering, it was still not clear. We called the front desk, and after some hemming and hawing, the hotel juggled some rooms around and moved us right away. They sent someone down to help carry our stuff. While this was a huge pain for us to do a mini-repack and move (and we misplaced a few things in the shuffle!), the hotel handled it expediently. Kudos, especially to the sweating engineer! (4) Grounds and amenities. They've done a few renovations and building over the years at the property. We've been fortunate to stay at many top tier properties around the world from Ritz Carltons to Park Hyatts to Four Seasons. From a physical build standpoint, the Phoenician is in that category. The new fitness facility is stunning. The spa facility is incredible and the team there was fantastic. The revamp of the lobby and restaurants are top notch -- after a lunch at Mowry & Cotton the day before we left, we actually wished we had eaten there more! Yum! I also loved how every Residence had its own golf cart with three rows. Since the Residences are set apart from the rest of the resort, it allowed us to zip up to the pools or the restaurants easily (and, hey, really fun too!). (5) Nespresso machines and plentiful bottled water. Since I can't live without either of these, I was delighted to see both!! And the kitchens were equipped with cooking knives and utensils, table settings, toasters, can openers, chopping board, pots and pans, baking dishes and more. (Although in the midst of all that great provisioning, it was a little funny to see a cheap top/bottom fridge in 7004.) As noted above, we loved that the Residences had intimate outdoor areas with gas grills! We noted, but did not use, the outdoor fireplace in the ground floor Residences. They also had washer/dryers, which proved to be handy. What would have made it even more special: (1) Titanium recognition. I don't make a big deal about this, but others do, so I'll mention it. There was none to speak of, really, beyond a "thank you" at check-in and the offer of breakfast credit or points. (And, unfortunately, the Phoenician falls into the group of hotels that just offer a breakfast benefit for Platinum/Titanium of yogurt+pastry+coffee, or $15 credit. So beware -- it is nitpicking the letter of Marriott benefits rather than extending a generous welcome like properties who provide Titaniums access to full buffets or anything off the menu. I'm also a Globalist at Hyatt and have never stayed at a Park Hyatt property where I was not offered a full breakfast buffet AND anything off the menu.) We were placed in Residence 7004 which was upstairs and was the only Residence without its own pool and just a hot tub. This actually was fine for us since we had toddlers and we really liked the layout of this particular Residence. I don't know if they consider the other Residences with their own pools as "upgrades" per se, but that was never offered. (We were moved to one due to our A/C issue. We actually liked 7004 layout better for our purposes, but I could see how a Titanium or Ambassador may expect to be placed in an upgraded Residence.) (2) Proactiveness. This actually surprised me a bit. We had requested a crib in advance. I inquired at check-in since the kids were melting down in the car outside past their bedtime, but it was not in the Residence, even though we checked in after dinner time. The front desk agent called for it immediately and it was delivered within 30-45 minutes. Likewise on the service recovery, after interacting ourselves with the (very nice) engineer, we had to request a room exchange, rather than it being offered proactively. These are both super minor things, but being prepared for guests and anticipating needs are marks of leading hospitality. (3) More as an FYI for other potential guests: the second bedroom is a King bed, like the master. I was a bit surprised they didn't appear to have a Residence or two with double beds in the second bedroom since I'm sure families would vastly prefer it. Overall, a fantastic stay and, as usual, when we check-out of the Phoenician we are sad to say "au revoir." The whole family is already looking forward to the next trip!! (In fact, already booked for 2020!)

Amazing views, blown away.We visited Scottsdale for the first time this year and were looking for a relaxing, luxury resort with breath taking views. After researching it seemed as if The Phoenician was just that. IT ABSOLUTELY WAS. Upon checking in the staff treats you like royalty and goes above and beyond. We stayed in a 3 bedroom residence with plunge pool. I cannot rave about this stay enough!!!!! Beautiful large house that can accommodate a large party if needed but also great for a relaxing couples stay. Would be excellent and more than enough space for a large golf group. I was pleasantly surprised at a small office with computer printer etc in this residence too! Beds are extremely comfortable. Large closet spaces. The master shower is oversized and so luxurious. Kitchen has all pots, pans, appliances if you want to cook during your stay but room service is delicious and worth it if you decide to go that route. We had our own small private pool with breath taking views. I really didnt even need to leave the residence if I didnt want to!! I did however venture up to the main property. They did provide us a golf cart to drive up to the main property but honestly the views were so pretty I ended up choosing to walk to the fitness center, spa, and main Phoenician pool with no problem! The fitness center is huge. Two stories. Brand new. All the equipment you could want or need. TVS everywhere. Absolutely a luxury amenity. The spa was amazing too. I had an 80 min massage and it was one of the best Id ever had. The staff at the spa are top notch making you feel extremely welcome and at home. We ventured up to the main resort area to the pools and had a great time. There are a few different pools and bars! We hung out at the adult only pool which was nice but if you have children with you theres plenty of pool area for them to enjoy too! If youre looking for easy and quick poolside snacks the flatbread quesadilla was very, very good. The views at this resort are absolutely amazing. It doesnt get much better than this. We enjoyed our stay so much we went back two weeks later to the Phoenician and stayed at the Canyon Suites this go round. I cannot say enough good things about The Phoenician. No matter if you choose The Residence, Canyon Suites, or rooms on the main property you absolutely cannot go wrong at this resort. If youre looking for breathtaking views and a luxurious stay with activities such as golf, tennis, spa..... this is it. Worth the splurge for sure!

Christmas PerfectionAs a family of four stayed at the Phoenician Residences while visiting family for Christmas. The Residence exceeded our every expectation! The place is so large we were able to host a Christmas party with 20 friends and family in attendance. We used the pools, game room, golf course, tennis courts and restaurants; each with exceptional customer service. We cant wait to make a return trip!

Best resort everThe first thing you notice when entering your resort room is unlike any other the room was nice and open which I really liked and everything was the state of the art including the tv, coffeemaker etc. the hotel had bathrobes which made you feel like kings or queens and if thats not enough you had several pools on the property to make you feel even more special! I would stay at this resort for the longest time possible because once you arrive you wont want to end your vacation!
