    Ideal

Villa Fernanda is a lovely little hotel ideally situated in Sant Agata. I loved the fact that its family-run and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. They are all lovely and cant do enough to help. Its clear that guests come back year after year as everyone was so friendly, which was perfect for this solo traveller! The rooms are fairly basic but very comfortable and were spotlessly cleaned every day, with fresh towels on alternate days. The menu choice may be a little limited but everything was delicious, beautifully cooked and plentiful. Its ideally situated about a 20 minute bus journey from busy Sorrento and also easy to reach Positano and Amalfi too. After exploring the local area each day it was lovely to return to the peaceful pool and gardens of Villa Fernanda. And such a refreshing and welcome change not to have music blaring out from the pool area. Just really relaxed. The shops, bars and restaurants of Sant Agata are a few minutes stroll away, as is the bus station which runs very regular buses down to Sorrento. I will definitely be staying here again and would recommend. It might only be rated as a 3 star but definitely has 4 star elements. Lovely.

    Beautiful family run hotel

My husband and I had a wonderful week here. The Room was spotlessly clean and the bed Very comfortable the only drawback was the size of the shower cubicle which was a little tight but usable and always hot. We stayed half board and the food was good breakfast was plentiful and varied throughout the week. Dinner was what I would call homely mostly pasta but hey this is Italy and always flavourful even if the the portion sizes seemed a little mixed up (starter always massive) 1 disappointing meal in 7 days and that was only an unsuccessful attempt at mashed potato on the whole the food was delightful. The staff were friendly helpful and always able to point us in the right direction and the most important thing for me unobtrusive.

    Quirky hotel for short stay

Booked a last minute break for 3 nights. Hotel is on a street with lots of motor bike, small vehicle noise so best to ask for a room at the back overlooking pool. The pool and garden area was lovely also the bar area light and modern. Disappointing restaurant which was cold and unwelcoming. This could be vastly improved with some low lighting and background music as it was so quiet it felt uncomfortable. Breakfast had a good selection, but evening meal wasn't good, the first 2 nights the food was terrible the 3rd it had vastly improved. You have to select on the morning what you would like for dinner but this only consists of 2 choices for starter and main (1 of which is vegetarian) I personally would have prefered buffet style and the amount of uneaten food being sent back would probably been more cost effective. My room was adequate for a short stay but the shower cubicle was tiny. The hotel is in a elevated position from Sorrento so for me wasn't ideal but there is a bus service to take you there. The views are breathtaking and I did the little train tour which was fantastic and such good value. I did the Amalfi coast tour through the Tui rep Lindsey who was great and glad I paid the extra for this as we had a brilliant guide who told us all the places of interest through the earpiece provided.

    Lovely hotel, small and friendly

I stayed here for a week with my niece and we really loved it, we arrived late in the evening to a warm welcome and, some plates of food in our room, which was so thoughtful. We ate most of our meals in the hotel, they brought a menu around during breakfast with a few choices for the evening meal, it was always very nicely cooked and very welcome after a day exploring! There is a tobacconist shop, less than 10 minutes away where you can buy bus tickets into Sorrento. The bus into Sorrento always seemed to be on time but, coming back in the late evening was a bit different, they always seemed to be later than then schedule showed but, once you know that, you can work around it. At the hotel, our room was fairly basic but, perfect for our needs, the room was cleaned every day and we were very comfy there. The pool area was always kept very clean and some mornings we took our coffee outside to the little patio area, which was lovely. We didnt have a problem finding a sun bed, it was nice that nobody seemed to put their towels down to save them, we certainly didnt have a problem finding two together. We spent a very relaxing afternoon at the pool on our last day, the pool bar menu was also very good. We both agreed that it was a great holiday, in a great hotel, where they looked after us so well, can't thank them enough, the Aperol spritz were really good and we hope to visit again soon.

Friendly hotel with some good Italian home cooking

My wife and I were the last guests standing at the Villa Fernanda before the hotel closed for the season at the end of October. The weather was sunny and a good 10 degrees or more up on the UK. It's a small, family run hotel, with a lovely pool and garden, where you can enjoy a delightful, home-cooked dinner delivered to your table, instead of bumping into dozens of other guests in the usual buffet free-for-all at bigger hotels. You will need to make a dinner choice at breakfast. The hotel's location is a 25-minute bus ride from Sorrento. It's a downhill, winding journey all the way and the ride offers fantastic views of the bay. You can walk it in an hour or so if you don't mind a lot of steps ... but don't walk back up ! Buses from Sant Agata are frequent and will also take you to Positano and Amalfi in the other direction. Trains from Sorrento will take you to Pompeii or Herculaneum quite cheaply, certainly when compared to the trips on offer from certain tour operators. It depends whether you're keen to have a door-to-door tour bus service (and possibly a guide). Be warned that hotel rooms can be quite small (ours was) and also the shower cubicle. However, don't let that put you off an enjoyable holiday.
