  Lovely base when visiting Hermanus

  We were staying for a couple of nights in Hermanus and so I booked here. It is very spacious. Light and airy rooms. Great facilities. Fridge, microwave, hot plate (although we didnt use) and plenty of plates etc. to enable us to self cater for one night. There a spacious lounge area and table and chairs. Lots of books to choose from. Outside is a lovely clean pool with loungers and nice garden. On our last day we also had our breakfast outside which was very pleasant. Hostess was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Brought us some milk when we arrived so that we could make a cup of tea. Also gave us some towels to dry off so I could have a swim. Would definitely stay here again

  Quiet, relaxing stay in Hermanus

  My wife and I stayed in the downstairs apartment and our son in a room upstairs. The apartment has its own access which is useful. Petra was a great host. The pool was looking good but the weather wasnt great to enjoy a swim. Breakfast was plentiful, a suggestion is to have the egg and mushroom on a warming plate to keep it warm while we have the cereal and cold meats. The house borders on the reserve against the mountain and was a quiet spot to have two good nights of rest. If youre wanting to use ice for drinks youd need to make your own as soon as you get in to the room to give it time to set.

  NOT UP TO 4-STAR STANDARD

  Petra was very welcoming and friendly. However, the accomodation was shabby and needs a facelift. The bed linen has seen better days. It needs to be crisp and white, but was not. Mattress not firm enough. The towels were good, and changed every two days. Lights in kitchen were not working, and undercounter light was mal-functioning. Therefore, dish-washing had to be done in semi-darkness. Curtains in lounge area came down when opened/closed. Venetian blinds dusty. The "private" outside area is situated on the front porch next to the front door, and not private at all. Very nice pool area and sparkling blue pool.

  Relaxed atmosphere ideal for a getaway

  I enjoyed the stay at Von Abercron Residence. Very friendly hostess . Neat environment. Excellent mountain view. Owner goes extra mile to accommodate my gluten intolerance. Secure parking and enough booklets to enable sightseeing in Hermanus
