  very disappointing new years stay

  stayed for the new years eve gala.friendly lady when we checked in. lack of staff on bar in afternoon, had a nice curry and drink. went to shower at 6pm and no hot water, contacted reception who were not at all bothered,i was told it was due to ohers bathing at same time. so i asked what they could suggest and reply was unbelievable, i was advised to perhaps try again at 8pm.well the evening started at 7pm in the bar with canapes and drinks, so i had to dress without showering which was totally unacceptable. Evening meal consisted of a soup which was quite disgusting to many, mains was a type of buffet carvery that again was not up to a decent standard, deserts was a limited choice.very disapointed with the overall levels of the time spent in this hotel, room was tired and dated, no hot water. On a positive we enjoyed our breakfast and staff were very attentive to us,good selection of food and great service.

  Another wonderful new years

  Well this year was around the 7th new year we've spent here and have to say as a whole myself and husband and the other 4 couples with us all agreed that it was the best year yet! We always feel like we are coming home when we arrive at white waters, the staff are so friendly and within 5 minutes sitting in the bar we feel like we've not been away. As for the gala evening it was a wonderful night, the food was fantastic, the dj was brilliant as always and the fireworks were better than ever; the staff work so hard putting on a wonderful evening and barely stop all evening and then are up again serving your breakfast. We booked our stay for next year again when checking out on the 2nd Jan. I do wish reviewers would review more fairly, yes the bedrooms aren't luxurious 5 star rooms but they are not sold as such and certainly aren't charged as such, but, they are lovely and clean and lying in bed hearing the roar of the river is wonderful. Can't repeat enough what a wonderful time was had by all.

  Weekend break

  Arrived on Friday 8th March and our room was ready and we also had a river view which was a bonus as the view was fantastic. The hotel was very clean but the rooms could do with an update which I am sure is on the cards. If you like your food then this hotel has 2 very good menus which we sampled on our two night stay. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff who are very friendly and helpful. Especially Dev who is a credit to your business. We will be back again. Neil & Jayne.

  Family birthday lunch

  I'm being kind by giving this 3 points. Young staff who didn't know the menu. Very slow service. My wife had brie wedges to start, which had no brie in them, the second one was OK. My cream of mushroom soup certainly had no cream in it, as I am yet to run for the toilet (love dairy but it doesn't like me). Carvery bland and tasteless. And yet the place was full.

  Lunch

  Went with father in law and family for his birthday .Service was very slow some of us ordered late which came with three very small prices of shop bought bits of thin crisp bread waitress dropped one off my plate didn't bother to bring me another one of our party had deep fried brie when she cut into it it was hollow the carvery was tasteless and barley warm
