    Disappointed, Heartbroken, Angry...

    After visiting the Winds with my wife, and previously my family many times since 2010, I was extremely disappointed to discover only yesterday that The Winds will no longer be open to the public. We enjoyed every stay immensely with so many wonderful memories. My wife and I even became engaged while staying here! Great ocean views, friendly staff, breezy bike rides and delicious breakfasts. Every getaway was special. I will miss coming here, and I believe the new owners are making a huge mistake in closing The Winds to all of us. In fact, I think this decision is downright selfish. Not only are they are preventing the return of hundreds of guests who gladly spent money to stay here, but I think this will ultimately harm the local Ocean Isle economy. Restaurants, ice cream shoppes and other businesses will suffer. There aren't many other hotels on this island. I can only hope the owners realize their mistake and one day open The Winds back up. They would be foolish not to. In the meantime, I will have to discover a new favorite beach spot. It was fun, and The Winds will be missed.

    Another Lost Tradition

    Our family has been going to the Winds for the last 10 years. It took us much searching to find a place as outstanding as this. We will truly miss this place and the great staff that worked. there. I just wish the company could of figured out a way to serve both their employees and the families that went their every year at the same time. That being said I hope the name of the company gets out and that the loyal winds customers boycott any and all services and products from them.

    Very disappointed with ownership

    For the past 10 years, my golf group of 48-52 players has called The Winds our October home for 5 days. I generally book our next year's trip prior to leaving so I know we'll get the week we want reserved. It truly broke my heart when I was told that we couldn't book another trip due to new ownership's directive. The layout there was perfectly suited to our needs and knew that booking at another location was going to be difficult to match or even come close to. After learning about the intended use of company that bought the property, my first thought was that since we had such a large group that maybe they'd consider blanking out a week for us to continue coming and they could make some money. But after asking my agent, I got a quick response of NO. Wish the company would reconsider their decision and allow loyal customers to return to The Winds. We miss it already...

    Very Disappointed

    Like most of the other reviewers, I too had a ten-year standing tradition of visiting The Winds each October...the perfect time to visit the beach with less crowds. Until the property was sold in 2019, it was truly a gem away from the hustle and bustle of traditional beach getaways. I was very disappointed when I visited in October 2019 to discover that the fitness room had been closed, and I had to get my exercise in walking the street or on the beach. With construction and contractors blocking some of the streets, it made it difficult to even get a good walk in daily. I had become accustomed to staff stopping by my room daily to see if I needed anything. The housekeeping staff didn't even come by during the three days I was there to empty the trash! The overall feel of the place just isn't the same anymore. Very disappointed...

    I see a lot of people complaining about the resort being closed to the public, i can assure you that the trucking division alone has nearly 15,000 employees and although non employees won't be able to go the resort will surely be enjoyed by thousands and very well kept by the new owners, as an employee i have to say that the owners are very generous and this is our 5th resort, a special thanks to the Roberts and your generosity will never go unnoticed, I'll be in the winds next week
