just OK, and poor value for money

Overall rating: 2.5 stars Based on my two nights stay, I can not recommend this hotel to others. There are things about it that I liked and appreciated, but the hotel offered far too little in return for the rates it charged. First and foremost, the location is a 20-minute and not-picturesque uphill walk from the train station in the center of Yufuin town. Having reached the hotel, the views and vistas which it offers are entirely ordinary. In addition, the property is not new. Yes, as we're told, the current establishment launched just recently (in 2013). Prior to that time, however, it existed in the form of another hotel (Yufuin Sky). Between then and now, some investment was expended to update and freshen up the old-looking plain concrete buildings. Yet the result felt very odd: a mash-up of Ikea, Crate & Barrel, and European retro . There were numerous things that I liked about the property, e.g. comfortable large-sized rooms and beds, good public baths, pleasant service, etc. But where were the electric outlets, and why was I unable to connect to the hotel's wireless network even once in two days? And, finally, the overnight tariff (approx. ¥19K/night for one person, and no meals included) was excessive.

    Very nice staff

Staffs are very nice here. They were able to understand simple English and tried their best to explain everything. Parking is free if you are travelling by car. There was a welcome snacks waiting for us at the lobby when we arrived. Private hot spring can be reserved at the front desk. Overall it is a nice and clean hotel.

    Visit Oita and Yufuin

We traveled to Japan to enjoy the onsen, especially outdoor onsen. Found this one ryokan with western bedding and outdoor onsen. Price is average with half board. Arrive at 5:30pm and arrange for dinner at 6:30pm. Since I have been visited so many ryokan with dinner, I found Shikisai dinner is the worse one so far. However, the onsen is lovely with small pebble on the bottom of the onsen, making me feel so comfortable. Room is large and the bed is the greatest points of the ryokan. Location is on the hillside and they provide shuttle bus to/from rail station. We drove and there is a huge car parking in front of the hotel. Nice hotel in general.

    Travel with friends

We can enjoy hotel with hot spa. You can have a very enjoyable time. The station and bus stop are a long distance. There are no conveniences around. Rent a car. It's a smart ride. 20 minutes walk from the station. But uphill.

Beautiful room with nice outdoor onsen

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Hotel is located slightly further from the main shopping street , no issue with parking space. Reception does not speak much english, but they've prepared a list in english on the instructions ie check out time, onsen etc Room is spacious and comfortable. Bathroom is big too The outdoor onsen is on the first floor, entrance next to the reception. The changing room is small, only one dressing table with 2 air dryers. Not for big crowd Onsen itself is nice, temperature is just right. Breakfast selection is the usual japanese/ western mix buffet. Nothing special
