  Nice countryside hotel with good view

  We were lucky to travel with Japanese friends as the staffs here hardly speaks english. But we managed quite well and we really enjoyed our stay. Rooms are Japanese style with sliding doors, a great view over the bay and futons which are set up in the evenings. There is a buffet for breakfast and dinner, mostly local with a great choice of seafood and fish. But you can also find pasta. Can recommend this nice hotel with local touch and spacious rooms.

  Older property with peeling paint and smoky rooms

  Chose to stay at the Toba Yukai Resort as it is one of the only properties I haven't stayed at. A shuttle service is offered from Nagoya but the return JR train fare works out quicker and cheaper and there is a shuttle service from Toba station to the hotel every 30 minutes from about 1.45 pm (please check with the hotel for exact times) The hotel is about a 7 minute drive from Toba station. The hotel looks out over the water from most angles but also looks out over the car park and the little port. Beautiful sunrise views from the room on the 3rd floor but the room got so hot due to the number of windows...so the air-conditioning was vital even though it was very cold outside. The room was large but not particularly well re-furbished especially the bathroom and sink areas.Also the room was very smoky and even with the windows open for long periods it wasn't possible to get rid of the smell. The indoor bath is on the B5 floor so from a room on the 3rd floor it took a while to reach the bath and this was also true from the room to the dining area. The dining room was large and in this hotel there were English signs to explain what each dish was which is a great improvement on the other Yukai Resort properties. The staff were not able to speak English so as with most Yukai resorts some basic Japanese is vital to enjoy your stay. All in all good value for money as always but not the nicest Yukai Resort. The location is very isolated so make sure to stock up on any snacks/drinks you require at the station before getting on the shuttle!
