    Early season family holiday

We arrived before check in time - but our room (11) was ready. We were welcomed by the owner, who helped with our bags but never introduced himself to us. We had taken euros to pay the hotel bill but found the hotel had taken the balance from my credit card during the morning before we had arrived. (increasing our bill due to credit card transaction fees) So if planning to pay by cash inform reception before arriving. Our room (11) was spacious with an excellent view over the pool, Agios Gordios and the sea. There were patio doors onto the balcony with a table and 3 chairs & heavy curtains to shut out light. We had 3 single size beds, all with one pillow, a top and bottom sheet and a fluffy type throw. A fridge with freezer section, a kettle & 3 mugs, and 2 glasses were provided. There were 3 electric wall sockets, one used for the fridge , one behind the bed & one by the mirror. Luckily we had taken an extra 3 way socket to use for charging phones etc. Air con was provided as was a lockable safe built into the wall. ( no extra cost) There was also a TV, which we did not use. The bathroom was small, clean & adequate for our needs, with shower cubicle and overhead shower, sink with wall storage,a hairdryer & shaver socket. 3 small guest soaps and 3 small body washes provided. The water had to run for a long time before it became warm, but once correct temperature was reached it was always plentiful. 1 Bath towel & 1 hand towel were provided for each guest and changed as required throughout the week. The floor was very slippery when wet and no floor mat was provided. There was plenty for storage for 3 guests, hanging space with hangers and plenty of drawers. The room was serviced everyday, beds made, bin emptied, cups washed - The sheets were changed during our weeks stay - but unsure how regularly the heavy bed throws are changed or washed... There were flowers in a vase on day 1, that quickly died by day 2, but were never removed or changed. On our arrival there were several pre squashed insects on the inside door and wall that were never cleaned away -I ended up wiping them on off myself after a few days. The rest of the hotel, the stairways, the dining room, the pool area etc were immaculate. Although the pool was still bitterly cold. Breakfast was served from 9 am to 10 am. We were expecting a buffet style breakfast, & although some items were available in this style, including tea, coffee, orange squash, 2 cereal types, bread (no toaster) jam, chocolate spread, honey, dried apricots and prunes, yogurt. All cooked items had to be ordered, This consisted of the same option each day, which were fried egg with an omelette & 1 piece of bacon- served with sliced cucumber, fresh tomato and olives. The eggs were always over cooked and quite oily. There was no fresh fruit offered at all during the week. There was a hot plate in the dining area (although not in use) so I believe that during the busier season it is possible that hot food is also served buffet style, which would have been nicer. Due to the fact the hotel was so quiet, with only a few people staying at the hotel, there was no real holiday atmosphere, and quite flat for my 16 year old Daughter. I do understand that this was probably due to being so early in the season ( May) Breakfast time was very quiet, as was the pool area - in fact most days there was no one at the pool, and the pool bar was closed on our arrival but opened later in the week. The lift to the pool was also closed on the first day. The restaurant/ food service was closed throughout the whole week. I am unsure when this opens or how this works. The Saturday BBQ was not on offer to us either. We parked outside the hotel easily everyday day. There is also some parking opposite the hotel. All in all the hotel is well located at the top of the hill at Agios Gordios, with amazing views. It is steep walk down to the village, where traditional Greek tavernas can be found, to suit all budgets, and friendly & helpful local shops/ mini markets. There are car/ bike/ quad rentals, day/boat trip offices all available locally & a local GP. The beach is slightly further down the road, with sunbeds and umbrellas available, and nice places to drink and eat. The sun set is spectacular here. Everybody we met was polite and helpful and we enjoyed our stay in Aloha Hotel. If you are looking for a busier holiday, The month of May is not the best time to visit. If you are looking for a quiet holiday, then May is perfect!

    Family vacation with child

The hotel is beautifully situated. We had room with a view to the sea. You can eat your meals with such a view also because the hotels restaurat has same position. Pool is really nice and suitable for small children (we went there with 3 years old son). In all rooms are air conditioners which was necessary because of the weather. The service was very kind to us. Everything was okay except the breakfasts. During our 11 days stay everyday was same things. EVERYDAY. There were quite poor and totally boring.

    Just average

We booked a room in the Aloha hotel probably 3 months ago for our holidays in Corfu. A week ago before the actual trip I noticed that the hotel already took (not froze) the whole fee from the credit card which appeared strange to me but that's seemingly their politics. We came here late at night before informing the hotel about that. At the door we were greeted by a man who firstly asked me to sign the papers that I paid for the room (I did it) and only then informed us that our room was still occupied and they're putting us somewhere else for the night. As it was already around midnight, we were too tired to argue and were taken to the next-door motel (part of the famous Pink Palace hotel). The room was definitely of a lower value than of a hotel's, the conditioning system barely worked and we spent an almost sleepless night in the heat. First thing next morning we were in the Aloha again and were told that the room still has to be prepared. The breakfast were served, nothing special, mainly bread and cold foods. One can ask for scrambled eggs but they were too oily for my taste. After that the staff suggested that we should leave our luggage in an open area and just go for a swim. Then we started arguing (we haven't got a normal night's sleep after all!) and after us openly telling them our opinion about all this arrangement, they suddenly changed their tone, put our luggage in a locked room and we moved into our hotel room after two hours. We used the time walking in Agios Gordios which is actually a very beautiful place with sandy beaches. We stayed in the Aloha for the entire week. We travelled around the island, so didn't communicate with the staff much after the first terrible day. By the way, you will hardly notice that they are around anyway. The room was clean with an excellent sea view but the toilet's flushing system was working poorly. We got some toiletries when moving in the room and they weren't supplemented during the entire stay. They did change towels when we left them some tips. And there are mosquitoes so the windows or balcony doors can't be open all the time. To add, the location is really good, all excursion buses stop next-door and the village centre with all the shops and restaurants are 5 min away. So it's much to do around but we really wish we didn't start our holidays (which we quite enjoyed, overall) arguing about getting a booked and seemingly pre-paid room. Looking at the reviews, I'm sure there are other hotels in Agios Gordios which will give you a more stress-relieved experience.

Great views and lovely freshwater pool

Nice hotel though very basic, not finish yet, one floor is just holes in the building so a misleading photo of the building. Breakfast very basic, not a lot of choice, I suppose just a very simple Greek selection. Clean rooms

    Lovely friendly hotel

In difficult times where service is limited, this is an easy, very friendly, clean hotel. Fabulous views, good size rooms, not modern but basic and everything you need. Set in a truly lovely resort. 5 minutes walk from beach up a bit of a slope, but easy and great views
